Whitefish Philanthropist Donates $500,000 to Food Bank

By Beacon Staff

On Saturday, July 20, philanthropist Mike Goguen will present a check for $500,000 to the North Valley Food Bank to complete its $1.5 million fundraising campaign for a new building and endowment fund.

This donation adds to more than $1 million raised in cash, pledges and in-kind donations spearheaded by the fundraising committee and board of directors.

The 10 a.m. presentation will be made at the construction site of the new North Valley Food Bank building at the corner of West 13th and 15th streets in Whitefish.

Goguen, a managing partner with California-based venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, has a home on Whitefish Lake and has spent millions of dollars into an assortment of local philanthropic causes and community investments, particularly in Whitefish, over the years.

Myers Reece sat down with Goguen in December to talk about his investment in projects like the popular Whitefish Trail. Click here to read the story.
