The alpine ski race team from Whitefish competed in one of the top races in Montana this season.

Thirteen local skiers were at the Missoula Slaloms Feb. 23-24, which featured over 150 racers ages 7-13. The race consisted of combined times from two courses, each with over 40 gates.

Gardner Dominick and Colter Upton were gold medal finishers in their age categories on both days. Upton placed third overall for all the boys.

Whitefish 11-year-old Peyton Charest had two great finishes, earning second on Saturday and third on Sunday. Tess Lewison was second on Saturday. Tyler Anderson also earned third place as well as Marina Kramer. Douglas Mercer placed sixth both days, and Ian Calaway earned ninth and 10th.

Next up for the Whitefish team is the Discovery speed series this weekend.
