After rallying from eight points down in the fourth quarter, the No. 5 Libby Loggers came up short in overtime, losing to the No. 4 Whitefish Bulldogs 57-50 on Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs were led by Colt Idol’s 33 points, including seven in overtime. In the final game of the regular season, Idol scorched the Loggers for a school-record 39 points.

Idol won the match-up of Northwest A’s two leading scorers, outscoring Libby’s Jim Mee, who finished with 24 points. Mee scored 19 points in the second half, but none in overtime. Mee made 4 of 13 three-point shots in the contest.

Down 40-35 with four minutes left in the game, Mee hit a three-pointer and followed it up a minute later with another to bring the score to 42-42. Tied at 46, Mee got one more chance to win the game, but was stripped of the ball with three seconds left. The game went to overtime.

Whitefish outscored Libby 11-4 in overtime. Mee missed all three of his three-point attempts. Idol, meanwhile, took over in the closing minutes on both defense and offense.

Aaron Tkachyk scored eight points and Shawn Watterud chipped in seven to help carry the scoring load for Whitefish.

Whitefish advanced to play No. 1 Polson on Friday at 4 p.m.
