Whitewater Festival Triathlon in Bigfork

By Beacon Staff

The weekend of Whitewater Festival in Bigfork, one of the best ways in the valley to kick off summer, is upon us this weekend. Among the activities is a “paddle” triathlon on Sunday, May 24. Participants will paddle four miles in a kayak or canoe, ride a bike for 14 miles and run for four more miles. The race begins at the bridge on River Road two miles outside of Bigfork on Highway 209 on Swan River at 9:30 a.m.

People can register at Kalispell Athletic Club prior to the race or at the Garden Bar at 8 a.m. on the day of the race. The cost is $18 for an individual, $42 for a team of three or $56 for a team of four. Participants also get tee-shirts and burgers. Winners traditionally earn money, but the amount depends on the number of entries. For more information call Stan at Kalispell Athletic Club at 752-2880 or 253-4103.
