By Beacon Staff

A 55-year-old woman was arrested Friday night in Hungry Horse after allegedly shooting her boyfriend during a verbal disagreement, according to authorities.

Pamela Ruth Haines was detained in Flathead County jail for deliberate homicide after deputies say she shot and killed a 71-year-old man at First Ave. NW in Hungry Horse.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says deputies found the man dead from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency personnel were unsuccessful in attempts to revive the victim and he was pronounced dead on scene, Curry said. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family. His body is being transported to the State Crime Lab in Missoula for autopsy.

Haines was at the scene when deputies arrived just before 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident.
