Personally, I wonder why all of the repairs that are now so necessary weren’t taken care of before all of that money was spent for the new high school. Sooner or later, school and other public officials are going to have to realize that there is a limit to their spending. Regular folks have to live within their means and they must learn to do that too.

I cannot believe the arrogance of the public school officials.  Darlene can’t figure out why the levy failed and didn’t feel the need to give voters a reason to vote for it or an explanation of where the money was to be spent?  It’s the entitlement attitude that causes these people to spend the money like it is their right.  Instead they should spend it wisely, like it was coming out of their own pocket.

I know for a fact that the school district has been shown a way to save over $1.5 million per year in fees.  That would pay for a ton of upkeep on school buildings.  But they are too arrogant and tied up in the way they have always done things to bother even considering it.  Todd Watkins ignores the finance committee’s instructions and there are no consequences.

The majority of the school districts in Montana pay for building expenses from the general fund.  Kalispell claims there is no money left after paying salaries.  How have they looked at cutting expensed in these difficult times?  Maybe a few less principals and administrators would free up some money.

If they choose to put this levy up for another vote right away, I say we vote no again and then vote the current school board out of office and elect representatives that will actually take their fiduciary responsibility seriously.
