Comments on: Baucus Says Girlfriend Merited U.S. Attorney Nomination
Let’s be civil.

Max:  As soon as HCR is completed, resign.

You have no credibility, no shame and no chance of getting my vote again.

baucus has no chance for re-election -  and he knows it -  and he doesn’t care…...  he’s a lame-duck doing the bidding of his biggest donors…....

and promoting his girlfriend is par for the course for baucus…....

just a quick google will show how many of his staff members left his office and then went and worked for the health insurance industry…..

and many have since come back…...

the revolving door policy of quid pro quo

“The Montana Democrat said they did not have an affair, but began dating while she worked for him.”

Is that the same as smoking marijuana but not inhaling? I guess that depends on “what your definition of is is”

It would be interesting to see a show of hands of those that support Schweitzer after his demonstration of cronyism and nepotism and then ask those hand raisers why they are upset with Baucus when all he did was make a recommendation, not appointments like Schweitzer?  Will you hand raisers vote for Schweitzer if he runs for Baucus’ senate seat?

people seems to forget that baucus just got re-elected…meaning his seat goes up for election in 2014…...

schwitzer will go for rehberg’s seat next…...

and between those 2 it’s no contest -

Schwitzer in a landslide…...

besides all you rightwingers -  aren’t you glad we have someone in the governors mansion that can at least spell his own name?  and actually has a degree?

unlike the idiot that was governor before schweitzer…...

or the idiot named pain?

and as a note to KN -  as a progressive i’d rather have baucus quit NOW before health care reform…..

the baucus health care reform will be handouts to the monopolistic heath insurance companies…..

which by the way baucus has kept the law in the heath care reform bill to keep allowing these insurance comapnies to operate outside the law with monopolies…...

if we are to EVER have meaningful reform in heath care or the economy in general we have to start enforcing the Sherman Anti-trust Act….....

to big to fail = to big to exist…....

break these vampires and FREELOADERS up….

the laws already on the books -  just enforce the dang thing….

the baucus response,  ” but then I won’t get my membership into the exclusive golf club…...

and i won’t get my millions after I leave office…...

I deserve it…..it’ not fair to have to play by the rules that everyone else has to live up to”

baucus is a big money scumbag…...

plain and simple…...

If anyone has ever doubted the merits of term limits, surely Baucus has given one pause for thought.  I’ve watched, listened to and read enough of his pronouncements to become convinced around 5 years ago that this man is an embarrassment to residents of the state. What a doofus !

I wholeheartedly agree with the consensus here - Baucus should just resign…now.  He is an embarrassment to Montana.

Something like catching the swine flu, politicians develop an incredible ability to ignore logic, values, and standards. And then, they show the world how dumb they are by opening their mouths. Worst of all, they actually think someone will believe their BS. “I am special and you are not”.

schwitzer has given the state of montana one of the best fiscal levels of any state governments in the country…..

i guess you don’t see what is happening in every other state in the nation….. or the world for that matter…..

tazmanian is just plain wrong…..

wrong on his facts

wrong on his baucus analysis:  baucus is doing the bidding of the corporations - just as most governments do -  guarantee profits for monopolies…..

and saying republican and fiscal discipline is beyond crazy

and a complete denial of the facts….

next thing the republicans will be saying 2+2=19 and the sun rises in the west….

and their followers will agree blindly as usual….

Reading these posts in the past few days, I have been amazed at all the pure hearts out there who are so offended by Senator Baucus’ actions,  have never committed this horrendous act of that which our Senator Baucus admits to, or have no thoughts that this man is too, only human.  To be so judgmental would want us believe they are perfect.  It’s quite unbelievable really, as these shocked, offended bloggers are the same who continually call their fellow bloggers vile names, at times threaten them, throw insults and often repeat lies, which are proven to be lies.
Do not for a moment think that I condone his actions.  He was wrong, he committed a situation that is taboo.  However, his lady friend never was offered the position, never was put into the job he had suggested her for, and therefore, this all enters into a grey zone.  A “what if” situation.  We could go on with the “what if’s” forever.  What if she had received this job………..  If she had, what if this had happened or what if that had happened?  We’ll never know, as it never happened.
I am more interested with who released this information, and for what purpose?  Who ultimately gained from this knowledge (gossip) that we all know so well.  Someone profited from this.  Who, and for what reason?  They accomplished their mission for sure.  Have we all fallen into their trap and reacted just as “they” predicted.  Of course.

@mitch - Granted.  It really boils down to the media plugging the story to generate revenue - same as any other news story.  It had an intended purpose, and it achieved it.

Does Baucus really care?  I doubt it.  De we care that he does?  I’m sure that the consensus in this blog would be a resounding NO.  It’s just another story in the litany of Washington politics, just like any other news story denigrating a politician.

Baucus…you know I find it pathetic that one of Montana’s own Senators is so enmeshed in advancing statism. Montana ought to be the state that all other states envy; a place of freedom and liberty from our ever oppressive Federal gov’t. Instead Baucus has done more than his fair share of turning MT into a massive anti liberty bureaucracy like CA.

Interesting!    Roark
Since you are not a resident of the great state of Montana, why are you so outspoken in the happenings in our state?  Do you throw your thoughts out there to blogs in all states or are we just the “lucky” one?    I find it pathetic that you spend so much time posting to a group of “real” residents, trying to blend in like your one of us.  Guess the blog is open to anyone tho, so carry on…...........................
