Comments on: Contentious Lakeside Subdivision Put on Hold
Let’s be civil. The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. We don’t always have someone moderating comments, so we ask for your help: If you see a comment that violates these ground rules, or you simply deem it offensive, please e-mail editor [at] flatheadbeacon.com. Putting in a golf course would be nice for the area. I looked forward to joining my friends for a round with what would probably be knock out views.

I think it’s too bad this isn’t going in now, when we need the work. Notice in the photo the traffic mentioned was an empty lowboy. A sign of the times. I’m told that a fad is dying. That fad is the whole “moving to Montana with my millions to retire” thing. So yes, rethink the plan as reported, make it something that could sell to hardworking local people.

Building homes, golf courses, marinas, restaurants and the like put a lot of hard working local people to work. Sure, after it’s built it only supports service industry jobs but there’s a lot of people out there wishing they had one right now. It would be nice to see clean industry with high paying jobs come to the valley but our high state income tax keeps them out. Being surrounded by South Dakota, Wyoming and Washington with no state income tax makes us look expensive.
