I find it not only ironic—but also completely hypocritical—that these “no gubment” Republicans like Jon Sonju have businesses that are almost entirely based on government money. These souless and evil people like Jon Sonju will turn down almost any progressive and positive and constructive community and social program in their blather about keeping taxes low while they themselves are the LARGEST SINGLE CONTRIBUTOR TO THE DEBT OF THE UNITED STATES because of completely unrestrained and unaudited spending by the Republicans in the name of the Military Industrial Complex. It is nothing but pure evil and John Sonju should be held responsible by the taxpayers today even as God will hold him responsible in the afterlife. How many kids did your bombs kill this week Jon?

John, the question you should be asking is,"How many lives did Sonju save, including yours?” Your idea of evil is inverted. You want to exonerate the enemy, and place blame on those who defend it. Also, Sonju does not exist for “social programs”. They are an end in themselves and need not live for your needs, the “communities”, or anyone elses. Profit is beautiful word, but people like you have disgraced it with your jealousy and your obsession with altruism.

The US spends more on military that every other country in the world COMBINED. We have enough weaponry to destroy every living thing on the earth 10 Xs over. The perversion of Republicans with the phrase “defending freedom” has led us to invade and occupy Iraq - run up the national debt of the country to the point that we are now the largest debtor nation the world has ever seen. The US military recently dropped three bombs on an innocent wedding party on the border of Pakistan. The first bomb killed the children who were running up ahead of the party. The second was on the group of women, including the bride, who followed down the hill a bit. The third finished off the others who were trying to escape. Nearly 50 innocent people died in that attack. If there is any disgrace it is that you have become so inhuman in your thinking that somehow this is justified as “collateral” damage and that these people are less than human being. The only disgrace is that in your complete and utter worship of the selfish self you have totally forgotten that these people and the millions of others innocent people who have been killed over the past several years by the Bush Co. are also individuals.
Of course, a country must have the right to defend itself, and a country should—as a very last resort-- use weapons and methods of destruction and death to defend itself.
But the amount of GDP the US spends on its military, and the sheer volume of nations we currently have our military occupying - and the legacy of the illegal Iraq war-- are perfect testaments to what can happen when war and defense are not so much an unfortunate and occassional necessity, but a business venture and profit machine with an insatiable appetite to grow. Soon enough it will become a monster and it will consume you too.

Just in case it matters I pray that these labors are used for defense, and not offense.
By Roark on 07-19-08
Defense if it protects the USA, offense if it protects the USA. Just saying one wants it used for defense and not offense makes little sense. There are many cases where offense is necessary to destroy an enemy who is trying to destroy you.

There are also many cases where we have used offensive measures against innocents who were not trying to destroy us.

“There are also many cases where we have used offensive measures against innocents who were not trying to destroy us. “
---No one is here is justifying killing “innocents”, but war is hell and if the blood of innocents is shed, then it is the fault of the tyrannical regime for putting the lives of their people in danger by threatening ours.

Did we find WMD in Iraq?
By John on 07-20-08
So Roark, in the case of Iraq where the United States was never directly threatened (albeit one of many many tyriannical regimes in the world - although actually a favored son of the US only a couple of decades ago) - and all of the reasons the administration gave as justifications for going to war have fallen apart as being either lies, misleading statements or just incompetence—is the tyrannical regime you are faulting George Bush’s?
