Running as a Democrat
Let’s be civil.
The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. We don’t always have someone moderating comments, so we ask for your help: If you see a comment that violates these ground rules, or you simply deem it offensive, please e-mail webmaster [at] flatheadbeacon.com.

So the question needs to be asked: Why is this woman running as a democrat?  Her cozy relationship with Rick Blake and other right-wing political players [as well as support for Askew, Wise and Vail in the Whitefish election] is in complete contradiction to any democratic mindset that I am aware of.  From my point of view, the only thing worse than a right-wing politician is a right-wing politician that pretends to be a democrat!

A former Washington DC lobbyist and current supporter of Republican candidates for Whitefish Council, Smith is NOT a Democrat.

She also served as a County representative during the recent Inter-local Agreement committee meetings between Flathead County and the City of Whitefish. She treated the people of Whitefish with nothing but contempt. She’s already been branded a faux-democrat in Whitefish since she announced her candidacy. There are many many people in Whitefish who would love to see her in Washington, just not as our congresswoman. It must be frustrating for her that the town she lives in will be supporting another candidate. I can’t wait to vote against her.
