It looks like the Brenneman/Harris property right attack machine scheme has been exposed.  It is time to send Brenneman and Harris out of Flathead County out on a rail.  Joe Brenneman has been a disaster to property owners and his hand picked Stalinist Planner from Las Vegas has also been a disaster.

The County budget is in trouble precisely because the high costs of sending sherriffs out to Evergreen every 5 minutes to deal with the Meth addicts, accidental gun killings of children and wife beatings. For all of our sakes, please aspire to something other than two notches below Juarez Mexico… And you are not a community… you guys couldn’t get your coordinated act together to unscrew a light bulb. The definition of a community are people who work together to make their local society a better place.

i understand that heehaw .but can you point to one that is thriving?as far as KRL is concerned.do you think that a planning commision is going to fix the crime problem here or anywhere?these crimes you speak of happen all over the valley ,not just evergreen.more government never accomplishes anything.im wasting my time debating with someone who blames all of flatheads budget problems on one thing.if you dont like evergreen.KEEP OUT!!everyone cant be as ritzy as you.our volunteer fire department is awesome.they do a great job.and they are more than capable of alot more than working with light bulbs ..you insult us .you in sult our fire department.KISS OFF!!

READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

I’m not blaming it on one thing: but it is a BIG thing - one of the largest expenses of the County budget is domestic and criminal service to Evergreen. You can’t fix a problem without objectively identifying it first. Evergreen needs to step up and become a productive part of the Flathead Valley community - and that requires that you all look within yourselves for ways to improve. Instead you are choosing to look inward and say KEEP OUT. Not a recipe of success… Maybe we should stop sending out the Sherriff and let Evergreen self-implode?
By littlehawk12 on 03-22-09
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

hey KRL we agree on something.stp sending the sherriff out her for about two weeks and the good citizens of evergreen would have alot of what you complain about taken care of as far as crime goes ..sometimes it has to get bloody before it gets better.

It’s really hard to get people to understand any issue thoroughly enough to help it.  I see merit in all the above rantings but no thoughtful answers.  Just ranting.  So apparently this Gilbertson tried to put together the basis of meaningful investigation and planning but nobody wants to consider such activity?  Okay.  Good luck. This is kind of typical of how things work around here, and don’t work around here.  We’re used to it!  It’s a way of working class blue collar redneck life!  Since when did any sheriff respond to MY pleas to investigate that smell coming out the recently installed second chimney in the garage next door?  All they want to do is post tax collection notices on my house.  If I had a meth lab I could live as well as my neighbors, for all I know.  Must be something to it.  Oh, never mind, I remember, they finally did get busted for selling meth over the counter at the casino.  That’s when the garage became a group home for meth recovery.  Sweet concept, same crowd,  more noise but different smell. We learned that while the sheriff can’t legally respond to a complaint the fire department is oh, so eager to!  Hooray!
Yeah good luck, folks. Did anyone who went to Evergreen School ever become President?  No?  Senator?  No?  I rest my case.  Ha.  Good luck.  Thanks for caring, Gilbertson, nice try, sorry nobody cares enough to listen. You can’t fix it, just pray that we’ll move away soon.  I do believe that is the goal, in this life or the next.  Isn’t there a whale to save somewhere?  Good luck.

The idea of a village council is a thoughtful idea. Currently there are 8,000 to 10,000 people living in the Evergreen area without any democratic community voice except for the fire district! That is borderline anarchy. So a couple of people call a meeting to discuss a concept, but the people of Evergreen are so uneducated, uninformed and paranoid that they exploded into an irrational rage because they thought that calling a community meeting was somehow a plot to devalue the property values of their trailers and shanties (which are already some of the lowest valued in the county. These people didn’t even have the social capacity to have a public meeting to rationally discuss a democratic concept! Makes me shake my head and think the third-world has already arrived in parts of the Flathead and Montana.

Good comment, KRL.  You said better what I was just trying to get at, but can’t, maybe because I pass too near Evergreen School every morning taking my kids to Montessori.  You think your stereotype of an Evergreen citizen is funny you should be at a Raceway Park rules meeting!  Good luck there, too.
Yes,  Leg, but think about it, if civilization is like what’s become of the rest of the county I think I’d rather it be every man for himself.  I can re-gravel my driveway better than the pros can plan a new highway.  I can add a shed to the back yard with better success at getting the pickup to it than some new subdivisions.  And again, I know how to get a fire truck here in minutes when a deputy sheriff takes two years. You learn how to survive here.  While working your butt off to move nearer the golf course…

Right you are about Evergreen School, Stanley.  You did your homework.  But I wouldn’t go quite so far as to say Evergreen is as bad as a big city ghetto.  You see, all the cars being stripped there are being done by their owners, and very slowly.  We proudly call it Redneck Living.  Our gangs are more likely to help you get your race car ready for Saturday night than steal your mom’s purse and sell your kids crack.
No, think again, Stanley.  It’s by far the cheapest way to live in this town, the people are nice and friendly, sometimes trash maybe but so what?  They’re trying.
I very highly recommend Kalispell Montessori School.  Who needs Evergreen School?  Losers, I suppose.

I honestly do not understand this “evergreen bashing” session. I’ve lived here all my life, and back in the 70’s, everyone considered evergreen to just be a part of the community. I live in town, but if you look around, there is just as much “trash” up here. Evergreen might have the Montana Village, but we have the Rosebriar. There is crime in downtown Kalispell also. I love to shop at some of the local businesses in Evergreen. The sportings goods store down there is ALOT cheaper than the one north of town. There are a couple of great mom and Pop restaurants…..what on earth makes us uptown so high and mighty compared to our fellow humans who live a few miles east of us?????

I am the working poor. I have worked with my hands all my life. Maybe my use of the word “ghetto” was not the right word to use I thought it better than “slums” I have lived in EVERGREEN many years but when it came time to think about schools for the kids we knew we did not want them to go to evergreen school so we moved. Trust me I have lived and been to mant ‘Ghettos”. Hunters Point, San Fran.. Hill Top Tacoma and oakland, I grew up in Linda Vista (san diego) and there are many fine people who live there. so if I have offended any1 I am sorry…............

I’m not from Evergreen, nor the Kalispell area….  However I am a small town resident here in Montana.  Now by all truths this could rightly be said to be “non of my business”, and probably rightly so !
BUT ( must add the BUT)  I seem to get a sense from reading the statements in here that there are those with very negative outlook on the small town life, I get a feeling that there are some opinons that people from these smaller towns are uneducated, narrow minded, and bullheaded, not liking change, and wanting to have some say over their destiny.
I have to say that we small town dwellers are a stubborn lot, we dont tend to smile down on drastic changes to our ways of life, most of us are willing to listen to others thoughts, but that dont mean we are willing to follow.  Most of us are educated, and those of us who are not have been schooled by life, and many hold a masters degree in that field.  We come from tight knit communities, we know the kids, the parents, the grandparents and on and on.  We spot new faces at the local grocery stores, and we are never afriad to pull over and ask if you need help along a roadway.  we are respectful to our neighbors, and faithful to our friends.  We are not afriad of rolling up our sleeves, pulling our selves up by our bootstraps, and working hard. My personal feeling is that our small town Montana/America is the most colorful patch in the quilt of our country !  Dont judge our small towns by our worst, judge our small places by our best (Thats where the beauty of rural America lies !)

I live here,my children go to Evergreen schools.  I am not trash and either or my kids. We keep our home and yard clean. If I could afford to YES, I would move. I do not like the Jr. High at all. As for being the slums and or ghetto yes, the places around here do resemble the ghetto people need to have pride where they live. Man,clean up your yards. I drive by homes/trailers and they are piled with trash. If you don’t want to be viewed as the ghetto clean it up. Evergreen has alot of problems like meth heads, transients, etc. we need to report drug use when we see and know it’s being made. We need to be agressive and fight for our rights.
