Comments on: Filling the Music Venue Void

I suspect the timing isn’t right for adding new, expensive things to do around here.  Money is just too tight!  I would have loved to see the concerts at Raceway, but, given the choice I’d rather make a house payment.
Thus, such events have to target the folks who have such disposable income.  Are there enough of them here to cover the costs of the production?  The Raceway shows were a flop.  The Fair shows were, too, apparently.  Bummer.
Kalispell just isn’t that big and rich yet.  It’s coming, I know, be patient.  Some problems have to be fixed first.
There are people who can personally bankroll such projects and venues, take Raceway Park for instance.  It never penciled out, almost got sold out for redevelopment.  But it was saved, and the facility is being radically improved.  When it gets management keen on promoting and “growing” stock car racing, it will thrive, I have no doubt.  Presently the racing action is pretty lame.  Most of the race cars are parked for the season.  Another bummer.  They figured out how to take all the fun out of racing and won’t listen to the racers, who the fans come to see.

Thank you whitefish police dept for running out the only good music venue around.  You could see a good band just about any night of the week for a reasonable cover and now NOTHING.  That’s a pretty nice bldg to be sitting vacant in downtown.

@bitter… also bummed about no good venue in Whitefish, but to the credit of the city/police that place was pretty seedy at best… you can have a credible local music venue without the need for such big city debauchery… tons of underage drinking, after hours drinking, drugs etc. etc… don’t know about you, but I like walking through town to get a cup of coffee in the morning without having to dodge piles of puke and mounds of trash… don’t miss that at all… great venue, terrible management…

Whatever goes on around here it needs to be fun and safe and responsible.  Regardless of the cost.  It doesn’t hurt to throw a little class at it, too.  This area could use a few lessons on the subject.
Public behavior gets a little disgusting sometimes.  The party venues with class require a security force to be at the parties that will be involving alcohol.  For everbody’s protection.  Not just those at the party.
Sometimes behavior has to be forced!  Leave it up to the patrons and look what happens.  You can’t blame the police for having to do their job, somebody could have prevented the need to involve them.

Why no more Friday concerts in the summer at the Summit at the ski resort? Seemed well attended. Must have been a way to make it pay. Instead of free lifts, how about 2 for 1 or half price. The music was great. Beer/drinks and food runners were a pretty good idea but more revenue could be brought in with an enhanced runners approach.

The numbers could be bigger with more advertising to the tourists. It was like a secret. Plenty of room on the hill for those that didn’t get a seat on the deck. The gift shop should have been making big sales but was too laid back.

During breaks the management should grab that mike. Talk up the food. Push the gift shop. Have a drawing to get people to stay to the end.

I would go up with friends and never spend less than $100.
