Comments on: Glacier Park Officials Reject Blasting Plan

Seems to me that with proper oversight, ie. regulation, BNSF could use charges to create avalanches with little to no impact on wildlife.  With proper oversight, they would only bomb minimally at times when the danger of catastrophic avalanche hazard is already high.  Maybe I don’t understand the whole picture, but avalanches often occur naturally during such times as when bombing would occur- what’s the big difference?  The rail line along the parks southern boundary serves as a vital environmentally sound way to transport goods across the highline, and with transportation costs soaring, rail helps keep prices and energy consumption down.  Here’s to hoping a proper balance is found amongst all interested parties.
