Comments on: Graffiti on the Rise in Kalispell

There is a new t-shirt on the market that says;
Dads Against Daughters Dating…Shoot the first one and word will spread”
So apply this to graffiti artists. Here’s the recipe:
1 rifle
several rounds of ammunition
1 silencer
1 nightowl with accurate aim
1 pair night-vision goggles
1 or 2 graffiti artists in the act.
Combine first 5 ingredients and apply ammunition to the kneecap region of one or both graffiti artists. Repeat over several random nights.
Word will spread and graffiti will suddenly become an unpopular activity. Even those with talent for spraypaint can make a simple risk assessment and conclude that it just ain’t worth losing a knee for a meaningless message.

Maybe time for some video cameras in these areas??? Or at least some signs….video cameras being used 24/7…tag at your own risk??? Like the sign….beware of the Dog…...people think first…..even if the sign owner has no dog.

When one of these vandals are caught. I hope their punishment gets the same amount of publicity. We want clear photos for all to see and know of those that would deface our beautiful Montana.

See the below link for a brief intro to graffiti…

A little education for the backwoods of MT. The Kalispell graf writer featured in F.B. is a toy - this article will only fuel the person more - not a good choice to give them so much glory (one picture of their newbie throw-up - not four seperate pics would of been sufficient).
Aside from graffiti being a “a senseless act of criminal mischief,” outside of our little Kalispell, their are places in world where graffitti has more of a message. This way of displaying a message is not new but has been around for thousands of years- the caves of France, the walls of ancient Eygpt, and many other places. Its a bit sad that I have to be subjected to billboard signs promoting McDonalds, Qdoba, whatever - in what is supposedly called public spaces. The public does not have much of a choice.
This town needs more places for public art to be displayed - not on private property where the owner has no say - but in areas the whole community gathers. I did like Nasset’s parting words, “This is everybody’s community, not just the adults and not just the people who get in trouble,” “It’s everybody’s community.” How can we fit everyone, even this elementary street artist - into this community?

I happen to like some of the graffiti that I’ve seen. As previously stated, it’s less offensive to me than some of the advertising I’ve seen, be it on signs or billboards. In my opinion these signs, billboards, and advertisements do way more to “deface our beautiful Montana” than does the graffiti.

One activity is legal, the other is illegal. I wouldn’t want someone painting images on my building without my permission. The vandals and some of you think the owner’s property rights should not be protected.
Some areas in the country have reduced and even eliminated billboards. The will of the people. Graffiti is the will and mentality of those without respect for private property. This is wrong. Rent a bill board and have at it.

Graffiti is similar to tattoos the way I see. Many are drug related “sign post” and not any community benefit. Look at the picture of the man KPAX has on its web site….the man & 2 other people caught stealing from Gardner’s RV….covered in tattoos. Had to steal since he ruined his chances of getting a job covered in tattoos. And, I’d bet he has not been in the valley very long.Graffiti & tattoos have a common thread….a bad thread. Bored stupid people that cannot get a job….but, artist…not hardly.

All PEOPLE WITH ACNE OR BAD TEETH MUST DO METH.
Please, please - the blanketed statements about individuals and the way they choose to adorn themselves is a very narrow approach to making your judgements. Look in the mirror - any one of us could be the culprit and any one of us could be judged by how we look.
The above statements by hotfish are by far the most disturbing.
Think a little harder about this folks - and no, MontanaTrace - I do think the owner’s property rights should be protected.
Empathy for both sides is where a solution could and may be found. Extreme points of view on this issue can not be the answer.

I only wish you were joking.

“When we understand the needs that motivate our own and other’s behavior, we have no enemies.”
- Marshall Rosenberg
I’m not asking you to condone defacing private property and no, I’m not joking.

I don’t know about that quote, shillbot.
Seems like anyone who’s needs are motivated (excessively) by any of the seven deadly sins becomes enemy of most ordinary people after we commoners understand/become aware this perverted action.
