Also, the rhetoric that pours from the mouth of the Dems turns people off:  http://thehostages.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/2010-09-06-brief-cartoon.jpg

Take a look at some of the “#########” comments from the enlightened Left today.  That label is a gross insult.  I’m surprised that the Beacon allows such a bigoted, conflating aspersion to be cast here.  It is meant to demean and dehumanize a large group of people.

It is a historical fact that the now named “Tea Party” proudly and gleefully named themselves the “##########”, before they discovered the pop culture problem with that idea.

I have no qualms in reminding them of their ignorance then and as it continues to be displayed now.

Kal Nat, what it show is that you have no qualms about displaying your bigotry.

There was no national tea party.  There were many tea parties that loosely had similar issues.  A reference by a couple of people not aware of the Left’s “pop culture” worship of such terminology does not mean that all the tea party people see them selves in the pejorative reference that you embrace.  Because you fail to see it and conform you behavior to the high road only further reinforces the point of the cartoon link I provided.

Kal Nat, and you need to do better research regarding ‘##########’. The liberal left and the MSM tagged this derogatory sexual term on the Tea Party, not the members.
The term really shows how much class the libs and msm have, doesn’t it?

Click the ‘theweek.com’ link.  Click the link to the pics of that gathering.  The poster was paid for by a radical, extreme rightwing site named ‘freerepublic.com’.  And it sure looks like more than a couple of people were involved.

Apparently rightwingnuttia can’t find the on-ramp for the high road.  Obama with a Hitler moustache?  Obama as an African wicth doctor?  Get control of your own troops before you make any demands of me.

At least Tim Ravndal’s 15 minutes of famous infamy are over.

This is why citing a poll is a dangerous way to frame a narrative, let alone try to score partisan points.

Last week Gallup had the Rs +10, now they have it tied.

BTW, Kal Nat you have yourself tied in knots.  First you criticize citing polls and then you cite a poll to make some point.

Let’s take your point about registered voters.  Within that group are “likely voters” as many registered voters don’t vote.  Regarding likely voters there is this:  http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/generic_congressional_ballot

===quote===
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. The survey data was collected on the seven days ending Sunday, September 5, 2010.

This matches the largest advantage ever measured for the Republicans. Three weeks ago, the GOP also held a 12-point lead.

Still, while the margin has varied somewhat from week-to-week, Republicans have been consistently ahead in the Generic Ballot for over a year.
===end quote==

Pollster also shows a significant R lead:  http://www.pollster.com/polls/us/10-us-house-genballot.php

Whistling past the political graveyard won’t change reality.  Once past Labor Day, voters harden their positions.  That rumble is the sound of a landslide.  CBS news reports the flight of the knee-knocking Dems:  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/09/05/ftn/main6837589.shtml

===quote===
  CBS Congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes said the Democrats are distancing themselves from President Obama.

  “Not only are they running away from President Obama, they’re running away from being Democrats in some cases. In some races you actually see the Democratic candidates not really mentioning that they’re a Democrat in their campaign ads,” Cordes said.

  Smith asked his guests to try to identify the source of the discontent: “From your experience on the Hill, have you heard any Democrats in private conversations say, ‘You know what? We went down the wrong road. We went after health care. We went after so many other things on the Obama agenda as opposed to, in the end of the day, it’s all about creating jobs?’”

  “Not only have we heard that, but we’ve been hearing it for months,” said Cordes. “We heard it during the health care debate that dragged on for a year when the economy was so bad; they focused on health care and they focused on financial regulation.

Rasmussen has a well-known G No P bias amongst the professionals in the polling industry.

You go ahead and buy into the game.  A poll comes out, the media are paid to find something to talk about (the more fractious the better) and then the consumer buys it or doesn’t.

Why are you quoting CBS?  Aren’t they part of the oft vilified MSM?

I’m not buying what they, or you, are trying to sell.

Kal Nat, your desperation is showing.  Like Rasmussen the latest polls on R’s vs Dems is as follows:

Remember when the Dems were arguing that healthcare reform would lower costs?  Not only are the underlying medical costs still going up, now there is a “premium” charge to pay for the reform.  The WSJ has the story:  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703720004575478200948908976.html?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Heritage+Hotsheet&mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTWhatsNewsCollection

The Dems own this fiasco and the burdens that are now starting to be felt.

Craig - Don’t you think its funny that all these insurance companies are complaining about having to raise premiums but at the same time their having all-time record profits?  Doesn’t it bug you that the top 5 earning insurance companies increased their profits by $4.4 billion, or 56% from 2008 to 2009?  Do you think its appropriate that Atena pays their CEO $38,000,000 every single friggin year?!

When fully implemented, the health reform would end up squeezing these companies profits. I guess these companies have figured out just how stupid the public can be.  They discovered they no matter how badly they take advantage of their customers, they still avoid all accountability.
By Craig moore on 09-08-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

Native, I’m not laughing at any of this.  Assuming you are correct that profits would be squeezed, it doesn’t translate to lower costs for everyone now required to buy insurance.  Obama said those costs would go DOWN.  He also said there would be no tax increases for those making <$250K.  He has doubled down and must now show his cards.  That is why many Dems are fleeing their party affiliation in a desperate attempt to win re-election..
By Native on 09-08-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

Profits MAY be squeezed simply because under the reform they won’t be as easily able to weasel out of paying legit claims.  No, that does not lower our costs… unless you have insurance and get sick.  Then it might actually save you from medical bankruptcy.  There have been no tax increases and there will be no tax increases for those under $250k in regards to health reform and medicaid.  If taxes go up, its to pay for debts related to being the worlds policman; not for medical costs.
By Craig moore on 09-08-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

Native, “may” and “mights” are maybes.  The reality is BOTH the cost of medical treatment and insurance are going up as the WSJ article points out.  That is certain.  Obama promised us a different outcome—less cost.  He also promised us, “no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increases. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”  The mandatory enforcement of buying health insurance will be enforced by the IRS.  They can only do that for TAX matters.  So, both heathcare costs and taxes are going up.  Makes Obama a liar.  That’s why, among other reasons, the outlook for Dems is rather grim as they have enabled both of these lies. The ‘ol shake a person’s hand, smile, and pee on his shoe and swear they aren’t doing it.

READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

Craig - I don’t remember ANYONE promising costs would go down in the short run.  An anticipated decrease in premiums was largly based on the mandate expanding the insurance pool to those young, healthy people that gamble on never getting hurt or sick.  That was also the target of taking the family coverage age up to 25.  Those 2 items and several other things are expected to lower costs over time… let me repeat: OVER TIME.  Premiums rise every year for 130 years and you blame Obama for it.  Man it gets old.

Once again, insurance companies are playing the public for fools.  They know that they can do anything they want with rate hikes because so many people find it more convenient to blame one single guy for all the worlds problems rather than really understand WHY costs are going up.  The insurance companies just expanded their customer base by 20% and they want to tell you that its hurting their bottom line.  Doesn’t make a lot of sense does it.

BTW: you do know that the WSJ is basically FOX News identical twin right?  Same owner, same narrative.  The parent company just donated $1,000,000 to the GOP.  Its not news, its propaganda.  Nice they gave the opposing view point 1 sentence at the bottom and than dismissed it.  Real fair & balanced right?

By Native on 09-09-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

There was no substance.  They just interviewed the insurance companies and than printed their answers.  The article does not cite any direct reasons why costs are going up.  It doesn’t have references or studies or numbers.  Its almost an editorial from the insurance companies.
By Craig moore on 09-09-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

Native, the increase in insurance premiums is widely reported.  In many states health insurers are required to file for rate increases.  Those filings disclose the drivers for requesting the increase.  The cost for medical procedures continues to go up.  The new mandates only add to the insurance costs.  Obama lied to get the bill passed.
By Craig moore on 09-09-10
READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

As to Obama’s “big lie” on health care costs there is this from the LAT:  http://www.latimes.com/health/healthcare/la-na-health-costs-20100909,0,304721.story

===quote===
Reporting from Washington —

Pushed by a dramatic increase in the number of Americans who will get insurance under the new healthcare law, total U.S. medical spending will continue to gallop upward, consuming nearly 20% of the economy by 2019, according to a new government estimate.

But because new savings in the law offset most of the cost of extending insurance to more people, the nation’s total healthcare bill is not expected to be substantially larger than it would have been without the overhaul.
===end quote===

Now, Obama’s sales pitch was that the rate of health care cost increases was UNSUSTAINABLE.  His plan would reduce such costs.  The spin now is to convince people that a cost growth rate larger than the UNSUSTAINABLE rate is now somehow goodness.
