Comments on: Hardin Officials Want to Pay Back Con Man
Let’s be civil. The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. We don’t always have someone moderating comments, so we ask for your help: If you see a comment that violates these ground rules, or you simply deem it offensive, please e-mail editor [at] flatheadbeacon.com. The views expressed in the comments section do not reflect those of the Beacon.

I really wanted the Hardin prison contract to work. It seemed like such a shame to have a new building with nobody to fill it. While I would like to see the state use this building instead of trying to build a brand new one in Billings, they seem to be blind to that idea. However, the idea that they should pay back a con man because he spent money trying to con them is just ridiculous. Paying this guy anything would only make the tribal authority look like fools. It’s time for them to say “see ya later” later on this guy and move on. I’m still waiting for the state to justify building a new prison rather than modifying the one in Hardin. I will never believe that it costs more money to modify a building than build a brand new one.

This is funny. Will the Hardin officials who were wined, dined and generously housed by Michael Hilton be in worse trouble with their constituents because they accepted his “hospitality”
(aka bribes) or because they paid the thug back? The next election in Hardin will be most interesting after the voters have had the opportunity to ponder what their elected leaders have done to and for them.

It could be funny unless this kind of Boss Hawg politics is just the way things work. Captain Hilton knew which strings to pull.
If it’s not hurting anyone, you just go along and maybe something will come your way.

Ya, but it’s all on Da Rez and look at the rest of what we have done for the Native Americans…it’s no wonder it’ll never work, the government is involved…
