Slow lumbering beast…..THAT SOUNDS GREAT…..the 2 large radial engines….cranking out the power….oh a sweet sound. I saw & heard it take off 3 times…..oh good sounds from those 2 large
engines.
NOW….seems logical to me…this is the type of Air Tanker the USFS….needs badly. Slow
lumbering, accurate & the pilots can see where they need to drop retardent. Not some D-11 that
carries 8000 gallons. Accurate planes that can make tight canyons & hot spots…and not some
supped up hot shot former passenger plane….that is only good for flat land grass fires.
