Here’s some folks that finally have the balls to tell the alcoholics in the justice systen to shove it.
As for the judge telling him he’s acting like a 13 year old, I know you are, but what am I?
By Jeff on 05-02-09
I agree their method was a little sophomoric. That isn’t necessary. Whenever I get a summons for jury duty I simply fill out the forms and answer the questions with nothing but the ABSOLUTE TRUTH and that gets me off the hook, big time. Surely whoever reads my answers gets a kick out of it, while being perfectly honest I might use a tad bit of humor but never vulgarity. Not that I have a problem doing my civic duty, but, hey you do not want me on your jury, trust me. Judges to not want me in their court. By the way, I do more than my fair share of civic duty in other ways.
By woody on 05-02-09
it really cracks me up to hear all the crying about doing your civic duty - when did becoming a bunch of freeloaders become cool or hip?
That’s what you are - FREELOADERS - you don’t want to pay any taxes - even though you complain about the roads and want your safe airports - and you want your socialist police dept to show up in 2 min if you get robbed.
AND if someone steps on your property or builds a fence 2” on your land you’re right there ready to sue - and then complain because the court system didn’t hear your case in 1 day.
Like I said - freeloaders off our society.
By Jeff on 05-02-09
Nice one, Woody. Now please describe to us your contribution to society so that we good citizens can strive to equal or exceed your incredible display of duty.
You served jury duty how many times now?
Which school boards have you been on?
You chaired, were on the planning committee, and helped with how many fundraisers at your school or civic organization?
The company you own has donated or supplied how much inventory and equipment for how many charity groups per month, on average?
When you’re at the park or boat ramp and such you, too, pick up some of the trash that our good citizens left there, right?
You certainly go to the polls and vote on every issue, I am certain, plus respond to all mail-in ballots. Did you vote for all the improvements to our (socialist-what??) police and fire departments?
How many times have you sued your neighbor?
Let’s see how you compare with us FREELOADERS, and everyone feel welcome to jump in here and rate your own standings in our comparison.
By littlehawk12 on 05-02-09
I will admit i fall short of quite a few of these .But i have never sued my neighbor.{Unlike some businesses do on HWY 93south}.I do voluntarally pick up garbage after litter-bugs and occasionally volunteer at food banks.I always vote.{When its something important} And occasionally give a few bucks to the homeless. How about a little honesty from you Woody???But i am sure that Honesty will not come from you being you think “a little” thievery is OK….
By Cowgirl up on 05-02-09
I’m not the most “civic” person around but…I do vote, vol. at the Animal Shelter, pick up trash along the roads, never sued a neighbor, help with fundraisers at the school (BTW..I have no children in school), raised 3 foster children besides my own 3 and generally try to help my neighbor..and oh yes, have done jury duty. Am I still a FREELOADER?
By Cowgirl up on 05-02-09
P.S. I also take in rescue animals.
By looky here on 05-02-09
lokky here We metion voluteering and all the libber dibbers run and hide ..Go figure!
By littlehawk12 on 05-02-09
Point taken looky here. But next time use your abc check…
By Jeff on 05-02-09
Ha! I knew it. The star of the show has left the building. What’s the matter, Woody? Cat got your tongue?
It’s okay. No biggie. Sorry it had to me who popped your balloon. We still love you.
By littlehawk12 on 05-02-09
I would not go there on these blogs if i were you dude .you could end up with alot more than 2 years. That statement is truly hate…
By Ben There on 05-03-09
Your comment got pulled, Coke Felon, but littlehawk is right.
I know how miserable that system can make you, I have a story too.
You have to play their game, and do it in a way that impresses them. It’s kiss ass. Not fun. But you did have a coke problem and have to pay the penalty. If you do it right, you will be laughing at it someday. Trust me and get on with life.
By woody on 05-04-09
Talk about PARANOIA! Notice my post - it doesn’t say liberal or republican - it said FREELOADERS…..
BUT it is heartening for all you to volunteer - some of you may have been involved in “community organizing” when you helped w/ the food shelters and fund raisers at the school. HELP US!!!!
AND here the rabid right told us during the election community organizing and volunteering is dirty and evil…..
AND some of you here have actually threatened the “brown shirts” w/ violence (civilian conservation corp ) who are simply volunteers trying to pay off their student loans.
BUT one thing about the rabid right is that THEY AND THEY ALONE get to decide if the organization volunteered to is worthy or not.
To the republicans free speech only applies to them! Just as the right loves to tell everyone what laws should be obeyed and the rightwing in this country has issued a “war on crime” and have locked up more people than any other country in the world.
BUT if there is a law they don’t like they are the 1st to say - I DON"T HAVE TO FOLLOW THAT LAW!
Could you all find a place where your intellectual beliefs are a little more thought thru so you don’t have these huge holes full of discrepancies and are lost in intellectual dishonesty.
Luckily the rest of the county HAS figured out the utter hypocrisy of the rightwing.
AND if you are wearing a striped orange and white shirt while picking up garbage - well that doesn’t count!
By littlehawk12 on 05-04-09
@Woody Just as I suspected!!!! Not one thing have you done to help your community or volunteer! Just like most of the left You take no ACTION! Very typical of you hypocrits…GO Take a hike dude.. All you do is whine and moan about everything! I bet you spend a fortune on tissue paper! What a whine bag!
By littlehawk on 05-04-09
@ woody….Your stance on free speech doesn’t make any sense either.Remember that you are the one who is happy to see someone jailed and lose their radio station cause you don’t like “THEIR FREE SPEECH”...And don’t come back half steppin’ with “It is because John has not paid Taxes” whereas you already admitted that you believe a little thievery is OK,But not allot. What a hypocrite…
By woody on 05-05-09
just because I don’t tell you what volunteering i do doesn’t mean i don’t volunteer….it takes away from the meaning of volunteering if you just go around all day bragging about it to prove how cool (or not) you are!
the Courts convicted stokes dummy - and if he didn’t pay his taxes for years then STOKES should be in jail and is the worst kind of anti-american hypocrite hiding like a scoundrel behind the flag
patriotism is the last refugee to which a scoundrel clings - sounds a lot like the rightwingers here -
stokes is a FREELOADER! He’s no Patriot - give me a break!
good riddence i say once again - keep hitching your flag to that loser and you’ll just drive more and more people away from your illogical arguments littlehawk!
no one has said anything about free speech - except the gardners who I suppose actually own that hate filled foaming at the mouth rabid rightwing squawk box now.
By Sons of American Legionnaires on 05-05-09
Thats cause you dont do any voluteering do ya woody?Volunteers should be proud of what they do and proud to tell other people about what they do.That is what gets more people to get involved!Under the stokes story thread I see where you thing that “A LITTLE CHEATING AND STEALING “ is OK.So how is it you such a philosipher on ethics. But do not have any yourself?
By hal on 05-05-09
Sons of ....., and Jeff, who do you think you are that anyone has to tell you anything about themselves? Where Woody volunteers and what he volunteers for in none of your business. As far as the phrase “little cheating and stealing is okay?“ I fail to see anywhere that Woody said that. Voice in your head maybe?
Woody, I do enjoy most of your postings. Some days you are the only one on here that seems to have a working brain. I think the ranters are probably just same old paranoid little being hiding behind that computer, but if he uses a different name each time, he thinks he’s part of a crowd.
Had the misfortune of tuning on Stokes yesterday, in the 30 seconds I remained there, there was a guy calling to say he’d seen 5 “chemtrails” the previous morning and the greasy residue was evident. Hahahahahahaha!
And…...it does make a difference if someone in this valley, state, city skips out on their taxes. No federal, no state, no personal property taxes paid since the late 1990 or before? He has no business walking down our sidewalks, or driving on our streets. Who do you think pays for this? Certainly not Stokes.
Keep up your posting Woody. You’ll never get thru to them, but it doesn’t matter to the rest of us. Just nice to know there’s an intelligent being out there.
By Sons of American Legionnaires on 05-05-09
As no one will get through to you.If post are not in your favor you automaticaly label them rants. Woody ridicules people for not doing their civic duty and that is Ok,Right hal?But when people ask him,What has he done too better the community? What civic duty he has participated in?You tell them too shut up,It is none of their of your business.Typical of the liberals.I understand.
By look again on 05-05-09
Look again hal. What woody said under the stokes thread is that “Finding a loophole (cheating)And underpaying a little (stealing)“ on your taxes is OK.Tisk tisk tisk…...........
By Jeff on 05-05-09
But Hal has good points too. Let me explain.
I stopped using the same name repeatedly long ago for all the criticism that one gets for having an opinion he thinks might be worth sharing, and wanting to. For the reason of stimulating good discussion. Yes the ranters suck, I rarely read beyond the first line of their #### and never respond.
Yes Woody was being picked on for for a thievery comment in a whole different topic, and his opinion seems to occasionally irk others, that’s okay, seeing the name Woody here automatically causes one to roll eyes and think “here we go again…“ So a new name every day prevents that and might make people give the person a chance to be heard. Personally I think Woody stepped on his own PP in this thread and I was just curious what his definition of a freeloader is, remembering sometimes that “when you point a finger you have three pointing back at you.“ I really give a rat’s butt what Woody’s contribution to society is. I know what mine is, people who know me are pretty grateful for it. You see and hear my name a lot at charity events and school fundraisers and the like. I’ve sponsored baseball teams and race cars galore.
It would be cool if people would be more polite and understanding around here. But expecting them to is futile, so we put up with it, ignore it, or let it set us off. We have choices!
As I said previously we love Woody regardless.
And I suspect that there are only a handful of people who read these comments and care enough to respond.

I would buy pizza and beer for anyone here that honestly disagrees with this——I bet most,if not all of the people on this website left politics and such out of their conversations and knew each other in person, that they would get along. And even be friends. This is why politics and religions are usually not talked about at work or in Bars.I have this one friend of mine ,I have been friends with for about 10 yrs now.About 4 yrs ago we got around too talking politics(something we never really talked too each other about before).YOU know we got into this great big argument and did not speak too each other for 2 months. We finally got over it and are Buddys again.Still friends today. We go fishing,Bowling and the like.Drink beer and all that good stuff. The fact that everyone is not in the same room together here allows for people too say things that they would not necessarily say In Person.I think one person here called them keyboard warriors.Thought that was kind of funny myself.Just keep in mind or act like you are adressing each other in person. And I think there would be more solutions here instead of bicker.Cause you never know “you might have just insulted your neighbor” Good Day
By Hal on 05-05-09
This is scary stuff.
I totally agree with the last 2 posts. Yes, I see absolutely nothing wrong with using a different name, or 3. I sometimes suspect though that a poster throws something silly out there, and follows it up with something else under another name and again and again. Thereby, it makes him appear to have someone that agrees with him. Guess I was trying to make the point that we’re not quite as blind as he may think.
I like the term “keyboard warriors”. Perfect. My neighbor is one of my favorite people, away from politics. When he burst in my door one day ranting racial slurs I told him he’d have to leave. He did it a second time and I told him the same. I have an email friend, and long time friend, who I’ve had to block because she insisted on sending me garbage which I asked her not to. Whatever happened to agreeing to disagree?
By littlehawk12 on 05-05-09
I ll be damned hal we do agree on some stuff. God love ya
By who? on 05-05-09
Nice work. Sometimes it’s fun to comment on an article just to see if there’s even anybody out there who gives a hoot about the topic. Quite often no takers! I really don’t think very many read any of this. Just a few, as I stated in a previous post by the commentor formerly known as Jeff. And Bill. Fred once. Ralph. Etc. Keeps people wondering. Hey, didn’t we see Roark on the news the other night? I might know who he is now! Bad idea around here, the meanies might cause him grief.
I and several others know for a fact that sometimes people are very incorrect when they have accused somebody of ghost posting. Only the persons accused knows for sure, and if they did, so what?
If the Beacon did not want any of this kind of stuff going on they could make it impossible. But it just makes it more interesting, huh?
By grannysgadgets on 05-05-09
Here is something : Good point….... I guess we can argue politics, and such here, and that way leave the topic alone when we are with friends and even family at times huh ??
I love a good debate, I like reading others ideas…... I just dislike “LABELS”, If I have not come right out and said “HEY” I’m a member of “Blah, blah”.... Well then I am not associated with that, and would proudly state it if I was !
By littlehawk12 on 05-05-09
I know that i can be quite rude sometimes.I am working on not being that way. OK?I will be the first here too admit that I have character defects.I know you all thought I was perfect.Sorry to break it too ya.But Im not.I agree with many on here. And many I dont. But I wish no ill of those that I disagree with.In fact I really do wish them well and also am glad that they at least give a hoot enough too take the time too share their beliefs.Too bad most people wont.and stay clammed up.to me that is much more of a problem in this country than those of us who disagree and sometimes stay stuck in the problem rather than seek solutions. If more people were like the last part of that sentence,I truly believe this would be a stronger more united country
By littlehawk12 on 05-05-09
I should proof read first..What i meant was that if more people were more outspoken that i believe this would be a stronger and more united country.Come on hal i wasnt trying too trick you i was just seeing if any of the peopleI disagree with and vise virsus would actually agree with me on non political stuff. And just genuine everyday stuff..Godd too see that we can get along and debate without demoralizing each other…

“We understand that it’s a hardship for people to come down here and serve, but everybody, all citizens, have a legal obligation,“ the judge told Slye…“
Sorry but I don’t consider being a jurist a “legal obligation”. It’s a duty and moral responsibility as a service to one of my peers and not to the “court”. A duty to a person, to not only judge the facts but the statute, code or ordinance. It’s called jury nullification. And if people educated themselves to this they just might be banging on the court door to be a jurist. Check out FIJA
By Flyboy on 05-08-09
Did any of you actually see the response by this guy (or his wife)? It was hillarious. This may get removed for the language but the last part of it said something to the effect that he would “rather sit at home and count the hairs on his dog’s ball sack than serve on a jury”.
