Comments on: Kalispell Budget Crunch Results in Five Job Cuts
Let’s be civil. The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. We don’t always have someone moderating comments, so we ask for your help: If you see a comment that violates these ground rules, or you simply deem it offensive, please e-mail editor [at] flatheadbeacon.com. Oh please, here we go. The poor City employees who are also underpaid, may lose their job. Welcome to the real world. And yes, the City Council and their ridiculous new building remodel which was OVER BUDGET. Obviously someone didn’t do their homework when checking out the building before buying. Please. The City Council and Manager need to start leading more honest lives and take responsibility for their irresponsibility.

“Kalispell Budget Crunch Results in Five Job Cuts”
It’s about time! Kennedy and her voracious appetite for big government have gone on too long milking the taxpayer.

How long will it take Whitefish to figure this out…..........................

Hmmmm… construction is down? Think of all those years that the city could’ve been collecting property taxes from the development of the shopping mall, which has been delayed for years due to the meanderings of the city council and the few eco-activists who’d rather see Kalispell disintergrate back into the wilderness. It would’ve provided the boost in permit fees and property taxes (estimated at 2 million a year, every year) needed to save those jobs. Hey, maybe those same folks who don’t want growth can volunteer their time to fill those positions they helped cut funds off to.

I had read if the new 9-1-1 center is built, the police want to hire more people to staff the local office since the dispatchers will be at the new center. Will the City still be paying their salaries or will they hit us with a new tax to fund the center? And to fund the gym they intend to build in the new 9-1-1 center. The City Concil has to start living within their budget. We, the taxpayers, are being hit from every direction and can’t handle more taxes.

City employees - Welcome to the real world. Prices have gone up - wages have not - there are job cuts in most businesses in the valley. We are to feel sorry for the 5 city employees? How many construction workers have lost there jobs in the past 6 months - no news article about them.

FIRE JIM PATRICK! He is full of it. How can anyone believe his words. Of course he is going to cover for himself and state that his building idea has nothing to do with this budget crunch. He was ONE MILLION over budget ladies and gentlemen. $1,000,000.00 OVER BUDGET on the new city hall. On top of that he lost an additional $500,000.00 somewhere else. The guy is destroying Kalispell and blaming it on the national economy. This area is not has hard hit as he makes it sound. Montana is doing very well in light of national trends. Jim Patrick is refusing to take responsibility for his actions and failed management. This is a window into the type of person he is….a buck passer, a blamer and a, “Who me?“ type of guy. He is dishonest and an imbecile. Read the past articles and comments and you will see there seems to be a trend here. Many people feel the same way and want his $130,000.00 salary gone today.

Here are some comments that echo what many of us have already stated and believe. Please council….Jim Patrick is ruining lives and destroying homes due to his fiscal irresponsibility. Please make him pay the price and not those who have given time and years to this city. Please fire Jim Patrick.

Fire the council and Jim Patrick, and the mayor. Replace the whole dirty, lot of thieves!

I wish someone would tell Patrick that it has become difficult to fund his position and that we are afraid we must let him go.

It is easy to spend it as it comes in—- its much harder to manage the process. I always find it interesting when people can’t imagine that the growth of money “might” slow and expenses “might” go up…......................... da
at the next election I sure hope people can remember that actual skills with “business” are helpful….....................
