This is a very, very important issue for business development in the Flathead Valley.  There are some great quality of life positives for being at the end of the line but some very real business negatives.  Good reason for more business that relies on intellectual and creative capital.

READERS RATED THIS COMMENT:

I’ve been wondering just how these fuel surcharges worked.  I actually need to come up with one for my business, as our delivery rates are based on time and distance.  An extra dollar or two per gallon of gas can really throw off what little profit the delivery adds to the overall job.
But it seems the fuel surcharge as described in the article is no more than a tax imposed, or a gratuity demanded.  I don’t want to impose a tax, nor demand a tip!  Isn’t there a more scientific, better businesslike, fairer way to pass the extra cost of fuel to the customer we are in business to serve?
Any ideas?  Thank you.
