Comments on: Kalispell Offers Matt McKillip City Manager Job
Let’s be civil. First order of business; cut his salary in half.

If this guy only served one term as Kokomo’s mayor and then got voted out, that should tell you something. Sounds like a bad sign to me. I hope he does better for Kalispell, for your all’s sake!

This position should be left up to the voters.
By lookin4work on 06-05-09
They should have employed one of the recently unemployed plum creek workers

@ sober native—It was left up to the voters. The voters selected this style of city gov’t.

i think anyone that was remotely talented got fired or left because they couldn’t work in this environment. I mean really - look at the mayor and the council - sad.
maybe it would help to just elect outsiders - maybe we’d get rid of the ‘good ole boy club’ - just a thought

I bet the results from the next election will be startling. No city managers running for re-election will make it. But that won’t be startling. Startling will be the voter turnout. You watch. Over half the town doesn’t give a rip. That’s how this mess got started.

It is obvious to me that no one has done much to check on McKillip’s qualifications. He virtually destroyed our City. He wasted money like it was going out of style. He could not get along with anyone. He lost the Republican Primary by 65% to 35%. Tell me how that happens. For God’s sake just Google his name. Go to the Kokomo Tribune website and do a search in the discussion board. Good luck. You will need it.

He certainly did spend a lot of the reserve money - seems like Kokomo had a lot of issues in restoring the downtown area and keeping businesses but it would also appear that the mayor prior to him had created a serious financial situation - hard to tell from reading what i have if he helped or hurt.
When we look back at the city managers we had here - most have been poor and the good ones looked bad because of the city council and some of their decisions. I feel like anyone we hire can’t win with the mayor and council we have.
