Attention, Attention, Attention:

This is an election year for the Mayor position and council postitions.  I implore all interested, and all city residents who wish to make a difference to register as soon as possible and RUN!

We need to replace the current city leaders.  We need only to look at the horrible track record to see that each and every one of them has done nothing but accelerate the deterioration of the city’s condition.

CURRENT CITY COUNCIL RESUME:

-Management problems between employees and the current acting city manager as well as the past manager Jim Patrick.

-Six figure severence packages for Fire Chief Randy Brodehl and Ex-City Manager Jim Patrick.  (done in silence with taxpayer money)

-The sale of the newly completed City hall to a california based company to which the city of Kalispell now has to pay rent to.

-The $800,000.00 over budget construction of the new city hall

-The elimination of 7 police officer positions.

-The elimination of the entire Fire Prevention department.

-The elimination of many parks and rec. programs.

-$100,000 spent and $400,000 budgeted to put statues at main and Idaho’s intersection.

As we can see, just skimminng some highlights shows the gross negligent behavior of the current city officials.  They have squandered our money, and made us LESS SAFE in the process.  It would appear from watching their bickering at meetings that they will accept no responsibility for their decisions and actions, which have directly caused the current crisis in the the city’s financial situation.

I implore you all to vote to remove all incumbants, regardless of who runs against them.  We need 100% new and fresh ideas.  The stagnation of ideas and stubborness of the current council is destroying our city.

If you are a progressive, team player, that supports education, parks and public safety please seek a position on the council or as mayor.  There are many who will knock on doors to support you.  Announce your candidacy and you will see a ground swell of support overnight.  I promise.

Help beautify and protect Kalispell…..RUN FOR OFFICE!

P.S.  Avoif hiring any felons this time.  Please do a THOROUGH backround check to ensure none of the candidates have 4 federal indictements charges against them, as Jim Patrick did from Lebanon Ohio.

NO CRIMINALS PLEASE!

Un-elect, fire, terminate the council and mayor this next election!

It is time for CHANGE.  Hope and Change!  ha ha.  To borrow the Obama campaign slogan.  As hoky as it sounds, that is what we need.

We need a complete changeover from these old hacks that have done nothing but damage over the past several years.

VOTE THEM ALL OUT!

Lets all focus on our civic responsibility to get involved this election cycle.

Campaign for those you support.  Talk to those running and find out what they plan to do.

Some big things to find out are; where do they stand on the issues of:

-Public Safety (Police, Fire and Emergency Medical)

-Parks

-Beutification of run-down areas of town

-Encouraging businesses to come to Kalispell and employ its citizens

-FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

-Transparency of government.  The current council and mayor have been far to secretive in the dealings of issues and monies that impact all of us.  It is time for open govenment and no more secrets. (e.g. Jim Patricks termination, Fire Chief Brodehl paid to leave, selling city hall, six-figure severences, etc, etc.)

-No more further pursuit of expanding the City airport into a commercial transport hub for UPS and Fed-Ex.  This will pollute our air and create noise.  Close the airport and make it homes and businesses.

-Make downtown more bike and pedestrian friendly.  Close main street to vehicles, make 1st ave west and 1st ave east one-ways headed north and south.  Place a park and walking path on main street, with band shells, performance arts platforms, vening stations etc.  Make it a place people want to walk, shop, and hang out.  People do not window shop on highways lined with lawyers, accountants, news stations and human resources.  People want chocolate, wine, and good music!

-Make Kalispell a beautiful and safe place to LIVE!

WE NEED MORE PARKS, POLICE AND FIRE!

I hope the new city manager reads this and listens to us.  I am sick of the drachonian and dictator like attitude of the past city managers and the current actin one.  No more.  This town belongs to the people, not the City government.  Remember, the government is OUR EMPLOYEE, and SERVES US!

@littlehawk.  You could try looking at the city council website and read the minutes from past meetings in the archives.  I know some of it is federal money.  They have spent hundreds of thousands of Kalispell tax dollars on it however.  It only benefits roughly 65 individuals according to an article about its expansion I read 2 years ago.  So basically, our money is being spent of a private aviation club that is the pet project of Fred Leistiko and his cohorts at the council.  It is not democratic at all.  Nobody in town wants it.

You should start a city-wide petition to BLOCK further expansion of the airport.  A citizen initiative could block the entire project!  I just thought of this while typing to you.  LETS DO THAT!  We could really mess their plans up, by taking the power into our hands and legally!

I double-checked with our photographer, Lido, and the photo is of downtown Kalispell, shot from an upper floor of the old county courthouse building, looking north up Main St. He used a lens that made the image look more compressed, since the pic was originally used to illustrate a story about traffic.
