“the 14-member council advises the NEA chairman, and reviews and makes recommendations on grant applications to the $145-million”
—-What??? The very man who sings “God Bless the USA” is now going to be involved in an agency that has no business in government, and one that extorts $145,000,000 from taxpayers? It’s apparent now that Greenwood should change his tune to “God Tax the USA”.

As a member of the arts community, I’m shocked and sickened. To be fair to Bush, funding for the NEA has gone up slightly under his watch (I attribute that to Laura), but this boneheaded move pretty much negates all that. Bush might as well appoint Dr. Phil to Health & Human Services.
My only hope is that Mr. One-Hit-Wonder will remain open-minded in his recommendations. Somehow, I doubt that will happen.

Why is this a bad thing? Does anyone KNOW anything about this guy outside of his songs? Is he currently active elsewhere in organizations? You’re all quick to cast a stone, but Bush didn’t do this out of spite. He had a reason. Probably one that none of you have even thought might actually be a good one. Anything to do with Bush anymore is immediately filed under “idiot” by the liberals of society even though they probably have no clue the specifics.
I don’t know, so Im not saying it’s good or bad. But so many seem to support the Dixie Chicks or the other idiots in Hollywood who want to be active in politics but probably don’t know anything more than the fact that they hate Bush. Oliver Stone’s new movie hating on Bush…. anyone actually watch that? They made fun of Bush pretty much the entire time. Not his policies are politics, but because his public speaking isn’t great, or because he shrugs his shoulders and laughs, or God knows what else. Im just saying, don’t let Hollywood do your thinking for you.

Nick, I can give you 145,000,000 reasons why it’s a bad thing.

Neil Young, a commie?! No, he’s a music legend who’s career now spans five decades. Five decades of thoughtful, purposeful music and activism. He’s an artist; Greenwood’s a singer/performer. Neil is now spending millions of his own $ to help develop more fuel efficient vehicles and alternate sources of power. If that’s communism, sign me up.
