A fishing guide should know better than show exactly how not to handle fish to be released backinto the water.

Bocephus, did you happen to notice the species he is holding? It is a cutthroat. http://fwp.mt.gov/fishAndWildlife/management/nativeFish.html
Both the Yellowstone and Westslope cutthroat are listed as a “fish of concern.” Responsible
guides are aware of this and don’t harvest them for the table. Responsible guides don’t
mishandle precious fish to be released after catch.

Such pillow talk get’s you nowhere with me.
I have been a fisherman for over 50 years. Conveying fungus and bacteria to cutthroat through
improper handling , gripping them tightly for a picture, and elevating them out of the water on
a warm day does not respect the resource.

Your first comment was, as usual, just you being a nitpicky perfectionist looking for something
to complain about because it didn’t conform to your preferences.

bochephus, your personal remarks just don’t make a convincing argument.
As to why I commented in the first place, look again at the picture of the guide mishandling the

MIshandling cutthroat trout is no way for any responsible guide to demonstrate respect for the

1. The fish is not from the Flathead Drainage for sure. Could most likely be Rock Creek or downin the Livingston area.
2. For being prime for Cutthroat & Rainbow….FHR is not prime. Too cold & not enough insect
larve in the cold waters.
3. Holding the fish….could have been better for sure, but maybe it was the first & only try, before
releasing it??
4. Rock Creek, East of Missoula, has some of the biggest trout that I have caught….course that
was back in the mid 90’s. Some as large as 10#: Browns & Bows….but, I imagine that the
removal of Mill Town Damn, has led to many SQUAW FISH…..they are about as bad as Carp.
5. Trash fish ruin many a good trout stream…way more than holding a fish wrong for a short while.
