Comments on: Media Bias in Montana?
Let’s be civil. The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. Dan,
Give me a break. MT as the “newly christened battleground state of Montana.“ With 3 electoral college votes? Lets get real. Barrack Hussein Obama only wanted to prove a point that he could win in an extremely predominately white state by throwing money and promises at a less than informed electorate - that is compared to other parts of the country. We won’t see this kind of attention again in our life time and I ain’t that old. Maybe in 4 years when the other Dan is up for reelection and the Republicans - hopefully - get their act together, we will see some more National focus. Until then, keep up the good work. Your stories are good and you for one do not show media bias and sometimes you even take on big bold issues like KRMC. Keep after them and you will have to change your name to David.

How about a story on the right-wing bias of the Daily Disappointment? You can’t move much further right than Frank Miele.

Dan, nice story. A little side note: Did anyone else watch the AP election streaming video? I was watching it and was disappointed to notice that every time they announced Obama won another state—especially big ones like Ohio and Pennsylvania—you could hear applause and cheers from the folks in the rest of the newsroom. Isn’t that journalism 101? Never clap, don’t cheer. I didn’t see when they called the election for Obama, but I’m curious whether the newsroom there went nuts.
A friend out here in Seattle interning at one of the dailies said the web designers he works with only mocked up special coding in advance for if Obama won. If McCain won, they were just going to do a standard headline interface. That’s really disappointing to hear, even if it was really clear weeks in advance that Obama had the electoral college.

Miele is a conservative editor—the only one in MT. All the others are liberal. The vast majority of newspaper endorsements this year went to Democrats (and Miele didn’t do anything that I saw). How many editorials have you seen in MT paper criticizing the governor or Jon Tester or Max Baucus? You don’t because they just aren’t written. Compare that to the deluge that used to appear when Martz and Burns were in office. There also were more editorials critical of the GOP on the voter registration issue and the primary caucuses than there have been of the governor over the past 4 years. Isn’t that amazing?

Several independant studies show that yes, the national media is biased to the left, and most likely this is true of several newspapers here in Mt. Frank asked many of the same questions, or attempted to explore issues as I would have in this election campaign, and generally found the same “non-answers”. But - the campaign is over, and we can hope that the biased media will be a little more open and honest, because now it will matter. In dollars, common sense, jobs, lives, and social issues. In today’s world, one cannot trust what used to be venerable national news, as they just leave out stories as they see fit. It takes time and effort and reviewing multiple news sources to get an honest picture. As for local, “well done”. And if, as Sam noted, Frank comes across as a conservative, it is only because we are so used to hearing/seeing the liberal side presented.

Rahm Emanuel, the new Chief of Staff: pushing for total gun ban, civil boot camp for 18-25 year olds/mandatory civic work for seniors, passing the “violent radicalization act”..(did I relay he’s another dual Israeli/American citizen?) I’m hoping some of you with a few dozen million in your portfolio will come up with solutions to removing leeching Israel from supervising our nuclear facilities/phone systems, destroying our Bill of Rights and sucking endless billions from our coffers.

Obama isn’t President yet!!!!! Anything that is happening now is still the Bush Administration!! I know you right wing loonies don’t quite yet the whole democracy thing but then again the facts suck when you are on the wrong end of them. Republicans are fact adverse - they only spew hatred, divisiveness and slurs. The attack on the Bill of rights? That would be the Bush Admin spying on Americans. But then again if it’s your guy go and ahead and shred the Constitution for the last 8 years. You anti-jews are anti-american - move to columbia or bolivia!

I don’t hate anyone..and your threats I overcome with loving kindness. (Jesus guards over the righteous..and that is the downfall of the wealth hoarders.) The truth proudly arises and those that destroy and pillage the USA exposed. Obama could be a great president, yet it is evident he has sold his soul to the Jewish controllers. His appearing before AIPAC and promising 30 billion to Israel not 12 hours after being declared the winner is telling. I have placed my Russian neighbors on notice to look out for any Mossad. Perhaps you should watch your backs too, my Jewish oppressors.
