Let’s be civil.
The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. To address the issues Ms. Simpson raised is multi-leveled.,
Concerning the use of cannabis by employees. If the workplace can not accommodate an employee using any type of pain meds, vicoden, percocet, darvocet then they cannot work while they are being treated. If the work place allows the above to be in the system of their employees then what is the issue of using medical cannabis legally What needs to be remembered is that people are choosing a less damaging pain management system than narcotics.
If there are people getting their medical certification with false medical records or no medical records and without proper physician standards then there are legal mechanisms in place to deal with the doctor and the person who falsified their records,
There are many good Montana’s who are your neighbors and friends who have been injured and now require pain meds for the rest of their lives. Why would you reject them as employees because they use an herb to relieve their pain and allow them to work?
If they are impaired then you FIRE THEM, but give people a chance to prove that COMMON SENSE will prevail and all of us can find a common ground and keep to the forefront that this is about seriously ill Montana’s and acknowledge the wrongs and abuse that may have occurred and deal with that on an individual basis with the legal system.
The sky is not falling because adults are able to choose a less damaging pain management than narcotics.
Thank you
Rick Rosio

the Federal Government does not recognize the legality of “medical marijuana,”

federal agents can still arrest you and you can be sentenced according to federal guidelines

Just as employers have the right to refuse employment to people for failure to pass a drug test, potential employees have the right to choose where they are employed…

Employees-  Choose to work for or not to work for an employer that tests for cannabis use….  The choice is yours….

Employers- choose to test or not to test your potential employees, but do not complain if you choose to test and cannot find anyone who will not pass the test….

It really is as simple as that….

I know people are worried about the traveling clinic. But, if it wasn’t for the clinic i wouldn’t have been able to get my card. Because being a veteran I see the veteran affaires for all my medical needs and VA docs can’t recommemed if even if they wanted to. So I’m glad that there is another avenue. To end this I just want everyone to look at the big picture, and keep an open mind.

One of the things that those who oppose medicinal uses of this plant need to understand is that for some illnesses there are NO OTHER medications that work. Particularly nausea and vomiting, the Marinol tablets dont work as well as cannabis.

If anyone has ever had a family member suffer like this and then have their chronic discomfort relieved, it certainly makes a true believer out of you. And by the way, never have partaken of it myself.

Thanks for your post, dewey. I didn’t know the VA docs don’t prescribe. I can see why someone like you would use the traveling clinic.

Employers and the dumb FEDS need to get with the times and stop DISTCRIMINATING against Marijuana users. ESPECIALLY when its hard enough to find jobs WITHOUT mandatory drug testing in these horrible economic times. Limiting job prospects to those such as myself. So being CHOOSY over what jobs is not REALISTIC or EASY in a small town like Kalispell when one is in pain and have a family to feed. Not to mention no new jobs and mass unemployment…..What we use to manage pain ect. in the privacy of our home, during off-time, should NOT affect employment…Old draconian laws still exist, unfortunately. Maybe I should switch to “safer narcotic pills the govt wants me to take to support their special interest drug companies”.... hahaha…

FCB,

One of the reasons why this all blew up is because the Obama admin stated they would NOT prosecute people who are participating in states med marijuana programs.  So technically, you are correct, but policy wise, they arent enforcing federal law in this case.

That’s just KN for you.  Always throwing in the hate card, the race card, the liberal card.  KN is here to show and prove the arrogance of the liberal party.  That is why they’ll be history in November. LORD WILLING.

Now KN is believer all of a sudden when it is convenient.  The Lord encourages to help those in need, not the ones sitting around waiting for things to happen without using their God gifted talents.  KN you expect too much from the govt which means you expect us to pay your way without you giving forth the effort.  Don’t kid yourself, everything you stand for is shown in bright colors of socialism.  This country was not built on your communist ways.  Wait till November Francis.
