Jan!
By Bill Milner on 05-16-08
For over a decade I have owned businesses and commercial property in downtown Whitefish. In that period of time I have chaired a City Committee, been a Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, was a founding committee member of the Whitefish Convention and Visitors Bureau, helped clean The Fish, helped put up lights, collected resort tax dollars, been a Winter Classic host, written check after check for numerous Whitefish charities and not once been allowed to have a city vote. Yep, lived in the doughnut with many who have outdone my modest contributions by tenfold. There are many doughnut residents that quietly count themselves as contributing members of the Whitefish community that are not given a decision making voice except when we’ve donated our money, energy, caring, abilities and time. Jan, just because we’re not allowed to vote for representation, does that mean we don’t count?

Just another pissed off newbie. So you decided to blight the landscape with your wealth and power. Thanks for pretending to be doing us a favor.
Yes Virginia, it’s like the weather, if you don’t like it, move.
I couldn’t imagine where you developed this snotty attitude ‘til I saw that you are just another carpetbagger calling everyone names. Go home to St Louis.

“We Luv Jan,” why are you afraid to identify yourself? I live in Whitefish, i.e., not in the doughnut, and you are slandering one of the kindest and most charitable people to come here in a long time. The fact that you don’t have the courage to sign your comment speaks volumes about you. We need to get along in this town and not take uninformed potshots at each other.

Virginia Weldon is one wonderful person that we are all lucky to have in our community. --- more that I can say for “We Luv Jan”

If Ms. Weldon did not appear to be so angry and self centered, I’m certain her message would have been a bit more plausable.
I am proud to have known Jan Metzmaker for nearly 40 years and am well aquainted with her tireless work for the entire community over many years.
I am glad that our new wealthy neighbors have the means to support their pet projects. Sadly, it only benefits those that can afford the symphony, the theatre, etc.
We will not however, tolerate these tirades and personal attacks from these transplants. Ms. Weldon, if you cannot control your emotions, please seek professional help.
I’m sorry your trendy mountain town move did not solve all of your problems.
