I watched the movie the other night too. Yes it was a long time ago but the one thing that stood out was both reporter and their editors verified and reverified the facts before they published the story. It was a story about what investigative journalism was and is no longer. Remember when the editor panned the front page story because it lacked the verifiable evidence that was the standard of the day. The other important point is that the principle management of the newspaper were Respectful of the office of the President. They insured accurate and truthful reporting occurred with the original intent of a free press as a trustworthy watch dog of the public interest. Ethics ruled the day, ethic trumped the headline. Yes times have changed. With the access to information today we are truly doing a poor job rooting out what is factual and important. If we as business people were gleaning facts and predictable future trends from verifiable data we would be radically changing our business models and approaches to meet the needs of our society in what sure will be a different future than today as was the history of 40 years ago. That is a really good movie too. How about everyone smoking and dropping ashes everywhere.

Yes, the effort to make sure the story was correct (and the smoking) were also very noticeable. Good points - thanks for reading and commenting:)
