Comments on: Money to Flow Into Downtown Kalispell
By JD on 06-26-08
I guess a hundred grand is a nice start. But, come on, what do you get for a hundred grand? The plans I saw a year ago to upgrade the old Sportsman Ski House building into something appealing and modern had an estimated cost of six times that. Of course, that plan wasn’t carried through, a “better” one came up, so what it is it shall remain.
So this money will first be used to hire someone to plan up a bunch more nothing.
It’s all talk, again. I’ll believe it when they’re talking about multitudes of millions to spend, which is what it’s gonna take to make downtown into something decent. Meanwhile, we sure enjoy the shopping a few miles to the north. That’s where the action is.

The REAL Roark who posts here on a regular basis, me, did NOT post the above comment, but someone else did using that name. The FB webmaster can prove it to you by looking up the e-mail and IP address. That being said, it is quite true that I do not support taxpayer subsidized welfare for business. The downtown steals the money they need by a ridiculous law that uses mob rule and property value to collect the monies they want.
If a business or buisnesses can’t be successful on their own then to use the force of government to take it from others I find morally.

disgusting.

Wow, Roark, somebody else is posting in your name? Not cool. The trouble is, with the economy going downhill so badly, driven by the cost of fuel mostly, lots of businesses can’t afford to make any improvement on their facility. Many are barely surviving. Start noticing how many have folded.
Rules number one, two and three in business are: location, location and location.
Up north works well. Ask any retailer there.
Downtown just has way to many serious drawbacks. I don’t know how to fix it on a budget like those proposed. I don’t know where the money will come from. I can’t let it bother me or affect my business. We moved north.
