Comments on: Montana Agency Pushes Lighter Alcohol Sale Penalties

The minor is the one who is breaking the law. If penalties are tough on people who serve them, they should be even tougher on the kid who thinks it’s a game to destroy a business. Problem drinkers usually are pretty good at maintaining. Why should the server or business owner bear the entire responsibility? Share the arrests with patrons that are usually trouble in more than just a bar setting.

It’s not just the minors, it’s the people who get falling off the stool drunk. I’ve known quite a few bartenders who are actually afraid to cut some one off because they are afraid of offending them, or they just don’t want to deal with confrontation. No…the business owner should not have to bear the entire burden, but they should take part in training their employees to practice alcohol responsibility.
