Comments on: Montana Nonprofit Says it Lost $3.75 Million to Madoff

What is with these non-profits? This one has $5 million and they invest $3.75 million with ONE company, and in the stock market no less! Talk about putting all one’s eggs in one basket - and a risky rickety basket no less!
These non-profits should know better, especially after all the talk about how bad and risky it would have been for former President Bush to invest part of Social Security money in the stock market.
There should be a law stopping non-profits from investing their money in the stock market. If it is bad and not allowed for the government and Social Security then it should not be allowed for non-profits to do so also.
It sounds like this non-profit, and the other non-profits, who invested with Madoff were greedy.
You know what will happen next… the non-profits who invested in the stock market will be asking for a government bailout just like the other companies who lost money recently. If they were greedy enough to invest their money in the stock market they will be greedy enough to ask for a bailout.

What is a “NON-PROFIT” company doing with five million dollars?
By Wall Street is a Ponzi SCHEME on 02-08-09
Exactly. Who cares. That is what you get for investing in a PONZI scheme. Maddoff LLC was written about for 11 years by investors and analysts who knew the numbers were bogus and the firm was scheming people. They contacted the SEC multiple times and were ignored. I don’t feel sorry for any person who loses $5 million bucks. That is the gamble you take at the Wall Street Casino people. Too bad so sad.
