This is Montana, it is what we do, who we are, how we live….... Look back across history they did’nt soley need a gun, heck some did mass murders with planes and box cutters !!!! I look at this wonderful idea a little differently.  It would be great if the Governor signs it and it works out for you guys in Montana.  I would support it in any way I can from North Carolina.  More importantly is this - whatever happens you are sending a message to the White House -  “We will not be subjugated”.  We have a President that has fired the CEO of a major corporation, Ordered the merger of another one to a foreign company which will then be paid 5 billion dollars of our money, has empaneled a group and initiated legislation to investigate the feasibility of “Mandatory Service” for young people (indentured servantry has caused more than one revolution),  and is now in the process of weakening our countries defenses.  He is undoing all that has been gained through the blood of patriots.  The Democratic Congress is making an effort to silence their detractor’s on the radio by law because liberal talk radio can’t survive with conservative talk radio in the free market environment. New Hampshire is considering legislation that would trigger the cessation of that state should the federal government enact any of several of the above.  It will never happen.  Your bill has a much higher likelyhood of survival but it is important to let this “regime” know that at least half of the country does not approve of the collective social view of the Democratic juggernaut.

Mark Twain said it best, “Loyalty to country always, and to Government when it deserves it”.

By what constitutional right does the president have to fire a CEO or order the merger of a company with a foreign company? What…the government is in the car business now? Even in Montana, it appears the mainstream media demonstrate their bias against RKBA. This article is littered with adjectives and adverbs with a distinct anti-gun slant. For example, the intent of the legislation isn’t to “skirt” federal regulations - it’s to demonstrate that the feds have overstepped their Constitutional boundaries in imposing them. Another example: Why did the reporter claim that a Montana arms manufacturer would “threaten” to build rifles? Seems to me that a simple notification would be all that’s required.

Anti gun bigots exist everywhere - even in relatively free states like Montana.

To “Vince Warde”,

While I can appreciate your wanting the States to enjoy the “laws” of the federal government and thus, you want the federal gun laws to apply to states, I have to say, if you think freedom will be protected by federal laws and Washington DC you have got to be out of your mind.  They are the cause, not the solution to any problems we are facing today.

The Fed’s corruption and antithetical natural law implementation has been shoved down the States’ throat for over a century and is finally come to a head.  I say, to hell with any “protections” of the federal government.  With so-called “protection” only comes more of their tyrannical strings attached.

The Founders acknowledged that we had a natural right given from “Nature and Nature’s God” to alter, amend or abolish the federal government if they ever become “destructive to the ends” of freedom found in natural law.  MT is only doing its duty to protect Montanans from the tyrannical laws of the federal government.  I say they need to move forward with more such laws…and if the Fed’s don’t take their greedy, tyrannical hands off, then MT should secede.

Indeed, many are moving to States that will do just that…“MT Bound” included…I look forward to joining the fight for freedom in a state of people who actually want to be separate from the federal government.

Littlehawk12,

There are 3 requirements for a republic to survive: (1) love of country, (2) education of where freedom comes from, and (3) virtue.  I claim all three elements, as I know freedom comes from God, as expressed in the natural and revealed laws of God—remarked by not only our Founders, but by generations of Englishmen before them.

Since most (if not all) 50 states acknowledge the natural rights of man, as does our US Constitution, I loyally support, defend and protect our constitutions, more specifically, our state constitutions, which are more fundamentally secure than our US Constitution because it has unfortunately been “trampled under the foot of men” (i.e. tyrants).

Thus, I do not consider myself a party-follower, but rather a freedom-follower.  As such, MT has my full support for their decisions to rid the federal tyrants off of their backs.  If it comes to forcing them off, then I will lend my muscle, mind and spirit in helping them.  I hope many of you would join the effort and are doing so now!

By the way, I have a very close relationship with the one who ran for President under the Constitution Party 2008.

m on had said   “You do not have to worry about buying butter knives containing lead or toxic materials, thanks to regulations.”  This is not necessarily so… pure capitalism would regulate itself without government intervention.  Once the word was spread that butter knives was on the market being sold with inferior materials, they would be shunned and then the buying public would buy the ones that might be a little more expensive, but the quality was there.  You don’t make a good product you should not stay in business.  Only those that make good things reap well the rewards.

If Montana made guns are well made and stay in Montana, then the Montana public will have a sweet desert of a firearm.  One that is exemplary made and one that no one in other states can possess.  Might even draw some folks to move to Montana for the “Montana Made”  stuff.  Nothing wrong in doing something well and getting a reward.  It’s when socialists government step in to create guidelines on who what when and where, that many things end up costing so much that what once was well made, good, is not so cost prohibitive that folks look elsewhere for better deals.  Government should stick with defending the citizens that pay them taxes and regulate the influx of foreigners and affairs, and leave the working small/large business to run, succeed, or fail.  Failing is good, if it weeds on inferior designs, workmanship, materials, etc,  whereas bail outs do no one any good.

We must not forget why and how this country was formed.  We need to stand up and be heard.  Now I am not saying that we need to take out the goverment just remind them that they work for us.

From Thomas Jefferson to William Smith
Paris, November 13, 1787

Yet where does this anarchy exist? Where did it ever exist, except in the single instance of Massachusetts? And can history produce an instance of rebellion so honourably conducted? I say nothing of it’s motives. They were founded in ignorance, not wickedness. God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independent 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century & a half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.

@liveinNE:  Reminding the feeb will not do any good.  The time for action is now.  One state breaking from the union will start the ball rolling and bring their house of cards crashing down.  When a government does not serve the people, it oppresses the people…its that simple.

All citizens in all State need to take back federal lands and take control of all federal parks.. if the Feds want to create al Park. all well and good. But the land belongs to the State not the Feds and the State Assemblies and Senates need to approve such parks. State Parks employees not Federal Employees need to operate such parks and the feds need to compensate the State for lands designated as such to offset the costs to use the land for other purposes.. From Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon.. These are the natural resorces of the individual states and the States need to control them not the Federal Government..

State Sovereignty and Territorial integrity is more important than another billion acres stolen from a Western State by a bunch of ECO Freaks living like Sardines back East.

history has several accounts of unarmed societies that were at the mercy of a central gov’t [Hitler’s Germany] for one that ended in genocide. China, Russia are other examples where dissidents who are unarmed are rounded up and executed. We need to see the handwriting on the wall.

I’m on the edge of my seat watching how this plays out from my home state of Virginia.  I can’t believe that my state, the state of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Patrick Henry and many other Patriots is starting to become populated more and more with socialists, and statists (mostly from New England and NYC).  It makes me sad that our country has changed so much but what is happeneing in Montana proves that there is still some hope that our country can get back on track.

I’d like to suggest a couple of websites for readers. One, Urban Survival is the free daily web blog of George Ure who is linked with the WebBot linguistic time prediction technology.
You can read about this technology at Halfpast Human
http://www.halfpasthuman.com/
http://www.urbansurvival.com/week.htm

How this relates will become apparent with inquiry and thought. The WebBots have made many accurate predictions, including 9/11, the Challenger Disaster, to name just two.

You might also check out Project Censored http://www.projectcensored.org/  as well as Information Clearing House http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/

One thing you can be sure of though, your not getting any news on MSN.

m - Something to consider… How do you think the American revolution would have turned out if Americans were only allowed to have their bare hands or butter knifes? It is for the fact that they had guns that you enjoy the opportunities of the country you live in. Think about it.

m - Sounds like you want to take no responsibility and have the government do everything for you.  A person can be killed by ANYTHING.  Your hands could kill someone so we had better regulate those, or maybe you’re not qualified to own them so we need to remove them!  What a ridiculous comment you make.  If you don’t want liberty (which obviously you don’t as you’re willing to sell it out for nothing), then go somewhere where they have none.  America is a land of liberty and is for those who appreciate it.

M, you would rather have someone on a rampage with bare hands or a butter knife?  Obviously you know nothing about weapons.  Have you ever worked in or known someone who’s worked in a prison.  They can use anything as a weapon.  A rolled up newspaper can kill someone.  In the hands of some people a toothbrush is more deadly than a gun in the hands of a novice.  Spend some time around people who know and you’ll find out how much you don’t know.

BTW, hurray for Montana.  Sounds like a place for people who want freedom.  Many of us may have to consider moving there if things keep going the way they are.

People who want to carry a guns are imposing their will on everyone else.
For example, Seung-Hui Cho and the gun lobby is saying, the students at Virginia Tech had the choice being in a shoot out or dying. They didn’t even know they had to make the choice. Boy, that is grand freedom and liberty.

Now if guns existed in the numbers they do in several other countries, those students probably would have graduated and would have never had to make the choice. That is real freedom and liberty.
You bet I don’t want to take responsibility for being in a shoot out while at the grocery store or the bank. I don’t have the training, nor do I wish to learn. I have better things to do. Maybe it’s important to you but it’s not to me or most of the citizens of this country. Where’s the freedom and liberty in living scared?
Yes, I do think it is the government’s job to protect me, my children, the students at Virginia Tech and you, weather it’s in food safety, driving laws, or gun ownership and usage.
PS Your hands are regulated, it’s called assault.

m - There are states with strict gun control right now, California, New York, etc.. Your always welcome to move to one of those states. Oh and by the way they also have the highest rates of violent crime, go figure. Did you ever consider moving to a country with total gun prohibition? And I honestly mean that sincerely. Even though many are totalitarian dictatorships, there are some that are not. While Canada doesn’t have total prohibition, they have more gun control than the USA. Ever consider moving to Canada?

To “Wish” and others like him and myself,

Look, accept the fact that there are people living in America who have the same concept of liberty as the French and Spanish colonists did in Canada, the West Indies, etc. during the 1600 and 1700’s: they accepted living in a despotic and an absolutists regime where they simply did what they were told and had no concept of self-government and freedom.  Those colonists would have agreed with “M” in that, as long as they were “safe and comfortable” they were “free.”  History reveals this truth.

You cannot explain freedom to those people, and surely what our Founders believed and said would have made NO sense to people in Canada and Mexico during 1776.  The proof is in the pudding today: Canada and Mexico no more understand freedom today than people like “m” do.  What an effective brain-washing job Socialists/Communists over the century have done to Americans.

I say, for all of you who believe in freedom and believe as our founders did that all freedom comes from Nature and Nature’s God, then I say focus your attention on your State legislators to make your state a free place to live, even if that means cutting the dead weight of federal ties who are content with nothing but absolute power and people like “m”  who are satisfied with voluntary slavery as long as he has a place to live in, a meal to eat, and tv to watch.

MT - You are completely correct in your post above. There is no argument or point that can be made to change the minds of people like “m”.

Sorry, Montana folks, but I think you may soon see an influx of like minded citizens like myself. Liberals have made my home state the most heavily taxed, regulated and one of the most violent states to live in. I’ve simply had enough. The liberals can have it for all I care.

Like “Wish” above, MT Bound is literally MT Bound, because MT is one of the only states left who understands freedom—although there are still many in MT who do not.  My observation is that at least a majority of Montanans love freedom and at the very least understand that you cannot have freedom without the ability to protect freedom—guns, etc.  So to you in Montana, I humbly request to board your ship, so that you can have one more MT citizen who understands freedom and who will join you in your efforts to protect it.

I see many postings of those that want to move to Montana. Now my only request is to understand alot of us do relish our freedom, we are neighborly, but not intrusive ( we appreciate neighbors that go about their own day) .  Our tractors are loud, our livestock smell, roads get blocked by large machinery, and cattle drives, we have open burning seasons, you may occasionally here a gun shot ( dont mean someones been murdered) people drive around with rifles in their gun racks even though it is not hunting season (usaully a dog is seated next to them, or in the back of the truck)  We prefer a introduction, and would appreciate you coming and talking to us if theres a problem instead of calling the law.  We love our outdoors, and like to have a little nook to ourselves when we are out there ( most dont like another camp set up right next to them).  I think if you can appreciate Montana for what it is, and the people that have their western ways instilled in them, if you can live within, or amongst and not try to change it, and as was said above be like minded , then I think many of us would not mind a new neighbor !

There is a lot of what Granny says that I do not agree with.  However, the above post was excellent.  That is what makes us true Montanan’s, is this shared belief of don’t try to change us, don’t belittle us, and most of all, don’t try to shove your beliefs down our throats.  We all have the rights to our own beliefs and when you insist we are wrong, you are only making fools of yourselves.  One thing I must add is this.  Respect.  Respect for your neighbors, your fellow workers, and whoever else you encounter in your day’s travels.  “Wish I were in Montana”?  I’m glad you’re not.  That’s stupidity.  None of us wishes to wake to “gunfire in the morning.”

As a native MT transplanted to Illinois, I find it very gratifying that my home state is leading the way in protecting the 2nd Amendment. The contrast with here in IL is appalling! Chicagoland area legislators have a stranglehold on the state, and use it to grandstand in front of the cameras promoting always stricter gun laws. The fact that banning guns in Chicago for a decade hasn’t worked is ignored, and they just keep trying to ban everthing from Foir gras & trans fats, to dog poop, all the while coniving how best to ensconce their famlies as politcal heirs. The anit gun mantra is just a tool they use to foster paranoia and deflect scrutiny. I can only hope that what MT is doing will somehow enlighten other states like IL to some of the amend some of their idiotic laws.
