Comments on: Montana Senate Endorses Death Penalty Ban
By Funguymon on 02-16-09
“There has never been an instance of a case in Montana where someone who has been executed has killed someone else,” said Sen. John Esp, R-Big Timber. “I think that is an important point that we ought to consider.”
How stupid. Really, is this not one of the stupidest remarks I’ve heard in favor of the death penalty?

I thought the exact same thing the first couple times I read that Funguymon, but the more I read it, the more I think he’s making reference to the fact that once a person has been executed, that person cannot kill again.

Good for the Montana State Senate. The sentence of life without parole is not a mercy to any human being. Here in Florida we spend huge amounts of money to kill people convicted in capital felony cases with no effect on the number of murders that occur weekly, sometimes daily. LWOP kills these individuals just as effectively without the crippling costs to the rest of society. Let them fade out of human memory until they die, obscure and unnoticed instead of being the latest celebrity cause of the day.
