Comments on: My Father Deserved Better End-of-Life Choices
Let’s be civil.

You had the ability, as did your mother to overdose your father on Opiates, yet you chose not to.  Your father had the option to end himself, he chose not to.  You want to make a private matter the purview of the government, you are a coward.  5 fentanyl patches and your dad would have passed peacefully.  I speak from experience and reject your appeal to empower this corrupt government one iota.  Deal with your cowardice, punk.

Maybe I’m missing something but how does enhancing one’s individual liberty by removing an unnecessary law empower the govermnment, Coldsteel?

The law “protecting” the hospice patient is in place to discourage relatives/the system from killing for:  inability to pay for services, unwise use of medical resources spending many thousands to support a dying patient (rather than allocate such to a younger person that can again be made viable), simple aversion to assuming responsibility for care.  Did you not utilize the services of a hospice nurse?  Did the nurse not advise you how to inspire the process of achieving your fathers’ death..  Your father clearly expressed his desire to end his suffering.  You were in a position to help him..and you FAILED HIM!  Now you write an article blaming the state???  In a perfect world we would all be resurrected at the first sign of decay.  Forgive yourself for your inaction..as you will be troubled and haunted by your fathers’ death rattle irregardless.  One day when you are on your knees being judged..let’s both pray that you will have been forgiven…I trust Jesus will show you mercy.  I shed a tear for your anguish.  Let it go as best you can.  Man’s law was irrelevant to your inaction.

Coldsteel - I find it disgusting that you would use the dirogatory tone and the words “deal with your cowardice, punk” in the same context as “lets both pray…” & “I trust JESUS will show you mercy”.  I dont claim to be religious, but a follower of CHRIST you are not!  Either YOU are the young “punk” trying to be a man behind closed veils, ie. “coward”, or you are surely “not quite right”.  Either way, I pity you.  I would hope in the future if you choose to use my Saviors’ name, you will also try to follow at least some of the examples of goodness he left us in his short time on this earth.

Situations like this occur precisely because some want to impose their warped ‘morality’ on the rest of us. I remember when the local hospital was going to host a seminar about death with dignity. The administrator received threatening phone calls and coward that he was, canceled the event which was held in Polson. It is sad that people are not allowed to make their own decisions about end of life care. Another factor is that the cowards and sociopaths of the DEA have inserted themselves into the doctor patient relationship and prosecute compassionate doctors. Because of these factors people continue to die in agony.
