Federal environmental agencies are permitted to enact and enforce regulations which may go
beyond the original scope of their authorization.  As was presented in the Idaho case of Sackett
v EPA, the agency often acts in an arbitrary manner and lacks transparency.  It seems that
instead of Congress establishing the law, the agency determines not only the violation, the
penalty, but what remedies are needed even without showing what violation actually occurred.
Environmental protections are needed, but the agencies charged with enforcing those
protections should be required to demonstrate the alleged violation and allow for a defense by
the alleged violator in a setting not entirely controlled by the charging agency.

Last week, investigations discovered that the Koch brothers are actually the people who will gain
from the pipeline.  They are behind all of the P.R. for it.  We will not gain in and slow down imports
of oil from the pipeline.  The oil it will carry is for export.  Remember the, “Copper Kings”?  This is
just another way to take from the state, possibly pollute the state, and give nothing in return.  The
jobs it will create will be for a Texas company and they will be temporary.  Check out the oil spills
we had in Montana, just last year.  Many were unreported.  If little people think they will benefit
from corporations running, “lose”, they are very mistaken.  Historically, Montana has lost to
corporations.  They pay a wage for a time, but take the big profits and leave their messes.

In the late 1970’s Jimmy Carter instituded an energy policy thats intent was to find alternate
sources of clean energy with the eventual goal of independence from foreign oil. Carter was and still
is the only President that had a comprehensive nation energy policy. When Reagan entered office
one of the his first actions was to defund the energy programs. He did this as payback to the oil
companies who were some of his largest contributors.
Since that time this country has spent well over one trillion dollars fighting wars for oil. This figure
will continue to grow since we are still so dependent upon middle east oil. Had this country taken
half of that money and put it towards clean energy development we would today be free of our
addiction to oil, both foreign and domestic. But when large multinational companies whos only
allegiance is to profit and not country are involved this will never happen. These large corporations
are the biggest danger to our way of life and they are slowly bleeding it away.

The biggest danger to our way of life is liberals thinking wind and solar are going to replace oil for
our energy source.  Speaking of liberals, they are the biggest danger to our way of life period!!!!

Roughly a billion dollars a day leaves the U.S. economy every day to pay for oil, and if you
want to see where our money went, look at all those gleaming cities around the Persian Gulf.
This has been going on since the 1970s because multi-national oil companies and their Republican
buddies have done everything they can to keep us addicted to Arab oil and prevent development of
domestic renewable energy sources and conservation.
Then there’s the blood of thousands American soldiers spilled in three wars to keep the supply
lines open and the trillions of taxpayer dollars spent over the years to prop up friendly OPEC
dictators. Then add tens of thousands of wounded warriors—to Republicans they’re just
“welfare” cases now..
There should be portraits of those soldiers on every gas pump in the country, to remind us as we
fill up of some of the costs that aren’t included in the per-gallon price.
It’s a new century, we’re tired of the oil wars and we cannot afford them anymore in any case.
American ingenuity can solve our energy problems if only the GOP would get out of the way.

I agree with Gabby, Obama and his oil wars in iran and afganistan have got to stop. The only
way out of this is to stop the continuing war mongering of this president for oil. Before his
election he promised to be out of these countys in two years. What a joke. We need to stop the
pretense that wind and solor are the awnser we need to use the resources this country has.

As opposed to a false idiot? Or would that be bent, skewed or akimbo? Just wondering.
