Let’s be civil. The Flathead Beacon encourages vigorous discussion and lively debate, but we will delete comments that attack other readers, make accusations we can’t verify, stray too far off topic, criticize local businesses (call them if you have a problem), convict someone of a crime, use profanity or are simply judged to be in bad taste. Finally a closed door executive session to evaluate city manager Jim Patrick! They should make it open door so as to allow for comments from citizens as well as others who have been negatively impacted by his failure to adequately manage this city, its’ people, revenues and resources. Jim Patrick has alienated many of the city employees, causing rifts between unions and management, as well as cost the city millions due to complete fiscal irresposibility. The new city hall is ONE MILLION over budget and the city is also another million dollars over budget for this coming fiscal year. In his own words the two million dollars have no correlation. This can only mean that he has “lost” $2,000,000.00 of taxpayer monies! This in light of a nation wide economic slow down, where the wise are saving and battening down the hatches to weather the recession. I say his time here is up, and we need to begin searching for a city manager who can get the city back on track. We need to start mending the damages caused by Jim Patrick. He needs to go. There really is no other solution, other than replacement. The city council and city government as a whole needs to be held accountable for the decision to either release Jim Patrick or retain him and the many problems he will yet cause the city of Kalispell. Farewell Jim Patrick.

FIRE JIM PATRICK OR LOSE MY VOTE!
By Belinda J. on 04-21-08
The longer Jim Patrick is allowed to manage Kalispell, the further the financial problems of this city will grow. He has no idea what he is doing and it is very apparent with the problems he has initiated and ushered into this community.

The city council is too ignorant an illogical to make such a sound decision. They will keep Patrick and the problems will only grow. Next year the Kalispell budget will be worse and new problems will exist. We will all be on here typing, “I told you so.“ Yet the council will ask, “How were we to know?“ It is slow, illogical behavior typical of politicians such as the ones running this city. They have no idea what they are doing.
