OSHA…should also warn “people” that do any kind of work….is hazardous also???? The
only job that is not dangerous is….in the after life.

This is a “no-brainer”.    Who isn’t smart enough to know this isn’t safe in so many ways.

Think silica dust only affects workers?  Wrong. Silica dust is virtually invisible and can be
carried long distances.  It will affect people who are not working at the sites and will be tracked
home to families and children on the clothing and hair/skin of workers.  Plus there is the
damage to natural areas caused by mining the immense quantities of sand that is required for
the fracking process.  It would be good if OSHA issued a warning statement about earthquakes
and fractured/polluted water sources which are also caused by fracking.  Here’s a PBS News
story http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/science/jan-june11/fracking_06-15.html

Fracking…..is better than supporting the nations that don’t like the USA, and drain the bank
accounts…via trade deficit. Billions to far East nations, that use the $$ from us buying oil & related
products…..to buy property & assets in the USA.
One of my pet peeves is the # of Arab men that use the power to come here & dress like normal
people….and back home, dress in the men controlled head gear & gowns, then tramp all over
womens rights.
So, fracking maybe can lead us to using our own resources till we can get alcohol power up &
running….which is the only logical future method of transportation power.
Just this week due to the closing of refineries in certain parts of Europe….the nation of India is
exporting fuel (petrol) to Europe…..INDIA….who buys oil from Iran mostly…..go figure.

If we relie on fracking till they get another fuel in demand we will be waiting a LONG time,
because why work on something new if we can stick with the old way of doing it, sort of like the
person who when asked how the project they were asked to do is coming and they say fine just
fine, but nothing has been done because heck they have *lots* of time to get it done…then it is
never done right, but it’s done.

How long have we been waiting on ethanol to use in cars or any other fuel that could be cheaper
and made from a more renewable source, Oil companies are not dumb some of these would put
them out of business so keep them off the market as long as they can and while we do lets ruin
the earth more by fracking and ruin water and dirty up the air ways as we do.

If silica is getting on workers clothing, then it can be blown in the wind how far away, if it is getting
in the workers clothing how much are workers families breathing in… hotfishmt you look like a guy
who is interested in women’s rights, then what of the wife’s right to not have her husband bring
something home that could put her or her children in danger? How many of these men may have
breathing trouble later in life, but the companies will not help with medical bills why because the
companies are and will claim this is safe so the worker will have had to have got it from
something else non fracking related.

My father worked for Alcoa, he started in the carbon plant that stuff penetrated his clothing so bad
even when he showered, he could come home and using my mom’s cold cream take it off his
skin, the shower never got it all off, so if it could penetrate his clothing how much did he breath in
that could have been part of his breathing problems later in life, If coal dust could harm a persons
lungs why not carbon or silica?

If we don’t make it clear we want a cleaner fuel to stop any more garbage being put in the air it will
not be long before SMOG will cover all the earth and the view of mountains or the ocean will be a
thing of the past…in the last four years I have not seen a nice clear sight of the mountains near
me, they now have what looks like a haze over them so I can’t see the tops even on cool days

Silica will damage your lungs. OSHA has now put industry on notice that mitigation needs to be
addressed. Protecting workers so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor is serious business.

Fracking: things that bother your lungs; saw dust, diesel fumes, metal dust, ex-wife’s, campfire
smoke, coal dust, not working, stress, booze, 2nd hand smoke, hair coloring fumes, cooking
fumes from too hot of a stove, bad/dirty air vents, dirty interior of cars/trucks, high rise closed
interior offices, stale air in bathrooms, driving on the humongous freeways of any large city, and
most of all…reading this dribble I just typed…..lol

Working is hazardous if you want to exist.

Looks like hydroelectric is the only safe way to get energy from the Earth.  As far as I know,
water doesn’t cause cancer and it tends to flow more reliably than wind.  Plus, the used water
is not radioactive!  I’m going out and getting me a hydroelectric car!!
