Libby is the poster-child of dysfunctional small-town government.  Now add to the “fine” list of their qualities, paranoia.

That said, cameras are all the norm and have been for decades in Europe.  Since 9/11 they have grown considerably in use here in the U.S. and they ARE Effective at deterring and prosecuting crime.

My only question concerning Libby is whether they will be used effectively and appropriately.  And the jury is still out on that one.  I have my doubts.  If you lookat at town comparable to Libby in size and population, I doubt you’ll find many employing cameras.  Is Libby actually adressing a major crime problem or just looking to spy on one another?

How do you judge appropriate and effective when all they do is show what’s happening in front of where someone points them?

Seems to me it no worse than the neighbor lady watching you through her kitchen window.  It just catches everything… mundane or heinous.  Kind of the fart sniffer of the visual world.

This is just another one man show telling the world the government is spying on him.  Be glad he does not live in Apgar Village.  OMGoodness, there is has been a camera there for years! How about the one right downtown Eureka, Mr Hirst…. you did not object to that one, did you?

How does one man get so much attention and not be on camera?
