Mark is very right about the train.  It’s slower, but a LOT more pleasant.  You actually get to SEE the scenery you pass.  Granted, if there are no clouds the day you are flying, you get to see a whole different perspective of scenery while flying, but being a ground level just makes the scenery that more awesome.

I have only traveled one round trip on the Empire Builder in the last 5 years, and that was from Seattle to North Dakota.  Going TO NoDak was fantastic.  Coming back not so good, but that would not keep me from taking the train again.

All the attendants on the train were FANTASTIC.  They actually TALKED to you..!!  They had a great sense of humor, and some of them actually “put on” an act teasing each other about their work and made the passengers laugh themselves silly.  You had a question, they answered it with a smile.  You wanted an extra pillow, another smile.  You just wanted to talk to them to see where they were from and how their day was going….....smile.

Some of the passengers could have used “courtesy lessons”, but the train staff was great.  I will be traveling by train from now on if time allows.  I dislike airports, airport employees, and flight attendants who have “God complexes”.

Ok, I’ll end this comment now so the Beacon doesn’t think I’m writing my own column.
