Comments on: Rancher Protests Wolves by Banning Hunts

If his ranch is in Beaverhead County, its possible the ranch is in WMU 3 where the wolf hunt is basically over, they shot em up in the backcountry, sort of defeating the purpose of the whole thing, so I would agree with him and his frustrations. If his ranch is in WMU 2, then yes, dumb move. He could have as many as 22 shot off the place.

There will still be hunting only by permission so it doesn’t matter, if there are tags available and the quota is not filled wolves seen will be shot.Ron Skinner D.V.M. wrote a good article on the cost of wolves to ranchers the costs are just now trickling into the price of beef by the time it is done it will be somewhere in the 25/35% higher per lb.Arguing with anyone about is futile but I will say it anyhow. It was a mistake to bring back an apex predator like the wolf into an environment that is hostile to his existence. No longer do millions of buffalo and other ungulates roam the prairies for them to feed on they now have a restricted area much like a zoo.Shame on the people that brought them back here they will be reviled and terrorized at every opportunity. Is that what you wanted, you all seek some sort of pre-european utopia where everything has harmonic balance without mans intervention until some catastrophic event claims millions of us it is not going to happen. You brought this on yourselves so accept it.

This is an example of how people are just fed up with our Government. First we reintroduce an animal that didn’t need to be brought back, at tax payers expense. Now we have a program to “manage” these wolves by the “beyond inept” State Fish, Wildlife and Parks department, at taxpayers expense. What next, at taxpayers expense? I applaud this rancher, we need more like him to take our state back from the conflict indusry…aka enviros.
