I just returned from the 2008 Event at Rebecca Farm. My daughter competed and her trainer competed as well. I watched most of the Cross Country from the World Cup Qualifiers to the CCI***, CI**, and all the corresponding levels. While I as a mom do worry as accidents do happen, I feel the corse was safe and the footings excellent this year. As in any competitive sport there is risk of injury and/or death to both the rider and the horse. We could get in a car accident tomorrow, there are no guarantees, however I would personally rather leave this world loving what I was doing, than to not have any passion. The love of the horse and riders is evident in the beauty of the facility and the care the horses were given by their owners over the course of almost a week. It is a beautiful sport and whileI agree with all safety gear and new laws. I will always support those with the love of horses, or football, or hockey or running.
