Comments on: Rehberg Sponsors Companion Bill on Oil Pipeline
By Gabby Johnson on 12-02-11
The Chinese investors behind the Alberta tar sands development need a way to get their product to the multi-national oil companies’ refineries and the export terminal in Port Arthur, Texas, so they can sell it on the world market. Rehberg’s bill would use the federal government’s eminent domain powers to take land rights from farmers and ranchers to benefit foreign interests. So much for getting the federal government out of the way.

Rather than let obama use the pipeline as a political bargaining chip at the expense of America, he should either shut up and get out of the way, or approve it and get out of the way. Maybe just resign and get out of the way.

Get real, moose- every politician who can get a claw in this will play it for value. Denny is rah-rah for the Chamber of Commerce guys, not working people. Coupla build jobs and a few at the refinery, so that what? China gets new/cheap oil and we get the risk of toxic spills, all done by the lowest bidder? Who reassured us about accident bonds and local concerns about environmentally sensitive pathyways? Oil co.s have a bad history of doing as little as possible for prevention and clean-up, while making megabucks and crying ‘loss of jobs!’.iSHUT UP! Nothing must interfere with COMMERCE! Unless it bothers me or mine personally, then since I’m U.S.Congress and you’re peons, I’ll get satsfaction. Y’all get what I tell you you want - That’s getting government off the backs of the hard-working patriots of this great land, blah-blah-blah. Windbag.
