Comments on: Ron Paul Wants Off Montana Ballot

I told you so!

Sounds like Dave got his facts wrong. If Paul wants to continue to work within the Republican party, then it makes sense that he wouldn’t want to be on any ballots as something other then a Republican. Paul had his chance as a Libertarian also, but turned that down. Candidates that withdraw can be replaced according to what I read in Montana law.

Ron Paul is one of the most brilliant members of congress either in modern or past times.
This is a win-win situation for him & I’ll tell you why:
If he gets a low vote total in Montana he can always tell the people that he asked for his name to be taken off the ballot & he never wanted to be on Constitution Party’s ticket. Absolute truth, no wiggling required.
If he does well, (and Montana is a freedom-leaning state when compared to the east & California, etc) which I think he just may do, then the people have spoken.
A pro-gov’t media would likely have fits but how you going to keep a lid on that? The Ron Paul movement would get a great shot in the arm.
All win-win no matter how it goes.

I reckon the intelligent thing to do, which I mentioned a legion times before, is put the ACTUAL Constitution Party candidate on the ballot; Chuck Baldwin.
By Nick on 09-11-08
Let’s assume for a moment that Paul did give his permission…he probably thought he’d never make it on the ballot…and when he did he realized he made a mistake because he doesn’t want Republicans blaming him in the event they lose. That’s probably what happened….if the Republicans lose he wants it on the merit of their past performance and current ideals….not the sour grapes notion of those who supported Paul during his campaign.
By Chris on 09-12-08
What Nick said is right. It would really screw around with Paul’s standing in the GOP to have his name on the ballot. It should be Baldwin.
By Mark Watson on 09-12-08
Ron Paul (and the rest of us) could care less how the GOP feels about him anymore. He has been put through the political machine with his mind in tact, but there is no love lost on the GOP if you saw his CFL speech on Sept 10. He may be a Republican Congressman, but you can bet as soon as the CFL takes shape, he will no longer need the Republican moniker. Nor will anyone else.
This is a timing issue. Prior to ending his Presidential Campaign, he needed to be on the ballot. Now that he is not running for President, he wants Baldwin to get the support of Constitution Party voters. It is as simple as that. Read the 4 point pledge.
By Who cares about all this?! on 09-12-08
W.G.A.S?! None of this debate or issue matters. I AM NOT VOTING FOR McCAIN OR OBAMA!! Period. I am voting for Bob Barr then. This is easy for me and should be for those who no issues and care. Obama and McCain are not choices, they are one in the same.

guess what everyone. Ron Paul predicted, 5 years ago on September 10th, 2003 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would require a government bailout in the billions! He called it! Did any other candidate running for president call that number? Did Barack Osama? Did Mcpain? Did uh hum…Hockey Mom simple minded snowmobile racing Palin? No. Ron Paul was the only one prepared to run this country. THe only one who knows and knew what was coming. We could have avoided much economic hardship, with him at the helm. RON PAUL IS THE MAN!!!! RON PAUL PREDICTED FANNIE AND FREDDIE 5 YEARS AGO!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, you republican pieces of human refuse that would make satan weep.
By Ron Paul is RIGHT on 09-12-08
I just saw that yesterday as well. Ron Paul predicted this bailout disaster 5 years ago. Unbelievable. Nobody listens to him but us ignorant Ron Paul supporters. Oh well. At least we know whats coming economically and will be prepared for it, while all the optimists and ignorant sit back eating doritos watching football. We will invest and hedge money against the collapse of the dollar and US banking system. When the credit contraction hits fully and the collapse of the US monetary systems slows, we will be the wealthiest individuals in the valley. We will buy up all the resources and land that these now impoverished apathetic neo-cons hold and they can be our serfs. Ha ha.
By SteveMT on 09-12-08
Ron Paul has already said that he does NOT want to run our: economy, world empire, preemptive wars, and education department. His not wanting to be on the ballot in Montana is consistent with these other positions. Ron Paul may well be the reluctant Constitution Party Candidate in Montana. However, if the voters want to truly send a message to the NeoCons, then we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so by STILL casting our vote for Dr. Ron Paul, without having to write him in. The message will still be heard loudly and clearly in this country.
By Citizen on 09-12-08
Right on SteveMT. I agree. VOTE RON PAUL!!!!!
By Kalispell Native on 09-12-08
I beg of you all, vote for anybody you want for president, except McCain. Pretty please? Thanks.
By NO McCain EVER! on 09-12-08
No problem. As a staunch conservative, morally, fiscally and very freedom minded as well with strong libertarian views, I would never consider McCain ever ever EVER. NO MCCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Allen on 09-27-08
Ron Paul says he will vote for Chuck Baldwin the Constitutional Party nominee, yet Baldwin won’t be on the Montana ballot. It’s good to see people supporting Libertarians. Paul was the 1988 Libertarian candidate and had visited Montana several times during his first run.

Ron Paul: Genius that Pulled a Number on 3 Largest Parties
The upcoming race for president can’t be counted on as a win for friends of liberty, if you were only counting votes. Ron Paul saw the bigger picture.
by Dan Steward
No other member of congress was able to foresee the impending collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He has a savvy that he wisely chooses not to parade about as a part of him, yet it is no less lacking in it’s ability to win over the hearts and minds of those millions who still love freedom and are not willing to ever give it up. This September, Dr. Paul told us a message that slipped under the radar of the guys (and their minions) with “D’s” and “R’s” in front of their names and I’m glad that it did. The message wasn’t for them anyway even if they did have the common sense to appreciate it. The first “number” he pulled, if you dare to see it as such.
His endorsement of Chuck Baldwin left many thinking that Paul was throwing something away when he was actually trying to build a foundation for a movement that would last well beyond November and teach others a lesson that was years overdue. I personally wouldn’t vote for Chuck Baldwin because I don’t pick and choose which rights people have. It’s already been spelled out for us. The US Constitution and the Magna Carta immediately come to mind as trusty enough guides.
Chuck can’t play “The Name Game” in polite company and he would not be my choice to lead America even if Ron Paul himself introduced me to him as “one of the five best men in the world”. Then why do I think that Ron Paul created a masterpiece of political insight? Looking at this from a standpoint after the 2008 election, then please first understand that the ballot box is only a means of achieving liberty in our time, not an end.
The Libertarian Party is the third of those parties I am referring to. His “number” that Ron did on them, was that Bob Barr should not lead us to the polling places, as he has not earned it from his deeds, only from his popularity or at least the temporary illusion of it. I wavered back and forth as to whether Barr was deserving of my vote. I only recently came to the conclusion that Ron Paul was to show that another minor party candidate, even with all his obvious flaws, was more Libertarian than who the LP faithful was running for president.
He also wanted to show the party what would happen to them if they strayed from their time honored tradition of nomination of the candidate that best represents liberty that we want to show to the world. The nomination convention of the “Party of Principle” openly rejected vastly more qualified candidates for president, choosing instead an only slightly famous congressman who never showed any respect for freedom or The Constitution while serving in office. The LP was begging to be taken out behind the woodshed and shown how it’s downward slide split the party faithful into mere splinters. Mr. Paul is bringing them back together without the party’s blessings or assistance.
His choice to have the conference and invite minor party candidates on September 10th was sheer brilliance. He wasn’t compromising himself to them, he was offering them to join the movement for liberty.
He showed the minor candidates that they too had also been badly stung by big government. Mired in their ignorance of economic reality, the minor parties have drifted too. Ron Paul offered a coalition to them, but one on his terms and that makes all the difference. Congressman Paul has taken it upon himself to educate them about the flip side of the freedom equation and it’s vast importance to us all. The bailout, jobs, the economy, new loads of taxes, yeah, timings good too. Ron Paul chugs along whether you give him credit for smarts or not. It’s a given that naysayers do not slow him down.
Big brother is losing it’s friends, and liberty is scooping them up and pointing them in the direction they have finally realized they wanted to go in. This can build into something incredible. I am so grateful that I ‘ll be here to witness it when he pulls the next number. He’s one of us, pledging his life, fortune and sacred honor, against “them”.
With Liberty,
Dan Steward
