went fishing in Lake Michigan last July for 2 days. During that time I caught over 20 Lake trout that went over 20# each….not a joke.. threw everyone of them back in except one that would
have died. Kept 5 king salmon each day that were over 20# each the largest being 28#.
This was considered average ! Lake trout are considered trash fish there as #1 they are
greasy when eating and #2 they put up no fight when caught. Get the Lakers out of Flathead
and put in some real fish to take their place.

Fast forward…..if Fish & Game gets their way….no Lake Trout…..no fishing worth the price of a small tank of gas. No nice day in the sun & water, no killing time & enjoying the
scenery….cause all the Lake Trout have been eliminated.
As for the first comment on fishing back in Michigan. The waters of Michigan have a
suitable environment for many species of fish: Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Steelhead,
Largmouth Bass, Lake Trout, Rainbows, Browns, Walleye, Northern Pike etc…..more than
what I listed there…..an of course the Salmon in 3 kind. The lakes back East have one big
food chain ingredient….Alewives (small silvery fish) that too was a ocean transplant. Its
basically a large minnow in the millions & millions in the Great Lakes.
The lower elevation has a more aquatic food chain…..more different kinds of fish. The cold
water in Flathead Lake….does not allow for too many kinds of fish….and yes, I forgot….the
Great Lakes also have the Lamprey Eel, and the Zebra Mussel…and SOON the never
expanding Asian Carp…the ones you see in video’s of the Flying Carp.
With no Lake Trout…..the sporting good stores can kiss their sales GOODBYE….for larger
rods & equipment associated with going after large fish, not to mention the boat sales for
lareger boats needed to head out on Flathead Lake.
