Noah and Calab, does John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden” come to mind? Noah lost to war, Calab feeling responsible. “Timshel Thou mayest” choose to give up, be destroyed, or fight on the
battlefield of our horribly flawed human condition. “Am I my brothers keeper?”. Calab in this non-
fiction story answered yes, “I’m his brother. I’m responsible for him”. What LOVE, what GLORY,
what a great brother and man. And I’ve since learned that this story rallied hearts to search, and
with new eyes found Aron. He had not succumbed to suicide but rather the elements. Aron was
found dead in his sleeping bag within a protective cavern, a picture of his Mother and Father in his
hands. Every person in this story is an inspiration, love endures the battle no matter how
bleak and hopeless, love cannot die. Aron lives and his story has given me courage to continue
mine. To all involved, particularly the family, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you so very
much. Joe
