My Godparents relocated to Kalispell when I was in high school and we would go and visit them over Labor Day weekend.  A good part of that weekend was spent at Sykes - not only did my Godparents live in Kalispell some of their children, grandchildren, and other connections lived there - so no matter where we stayed, or what we had done we could always stop by Sykes and catch up with someone who knew what everyone was doing and where they might be (this was long before the days of mobile phones and constantly connecting via social media.)  Even when no one in the family was there - you could count on someone who knew them being there and they could/would fill you in on the daily agenda….

I have such wonderful memories of Sykes and I am comforted to know it is still around, and even with it’s necessary modernization, still provides the same atmosphere of community that it always embodied.  (However I am betting that a cup of coffee is a bit more expensive than it was back in the day….)
