Police believe Wayne C. Bengston committed suicide soon after killing Gregory G. Rodriguez.

Family type murders are some of the worst.  How could this have been stopped?  The only
thing if they had a gun..but they were in their own home.  Once someone gets bent on
something it is almost impossible to stop them…so sorry for the family!

If I am not mistaken, Wayne Bengston’s wife is Lindsey Bengston, pictured here:

Greg Rodriguez had an endorsement deal with the custom rifle manufacturing concern where Mrs.
Bengston is employed.

Another death by a gun.  I don’t see how any new laws would have stopped this tragedy, but I still support
some type of gun control regulation.

Our prayers go out to the Family in yet another senseless tragedy. Of course the Gun Grabbers will
continue to use these incidents in their attempt to disarm the law biding Citizens. Perhaps we should
also consider registering kitchen knives, roller pins, skillets, heavy ashtrays and golf clubs!

If you had some way to do it, would you not grab the gun from Wayne Bengston’s hand? The
idea that guns make us safe does not work here—no one has better access to firearms than
Greg and Lindsey had. Greg had an endorsement deal with the arms manufacturing company
where Lindsey worked, it seems likely this was solely a business relationship.

Kitchen knives, roller pins, skillets, heavy ashtrays and golf clubs did not kill Greg Rodriguez, it
was a man filled with unreasoning rage who shot him, then pistol-whipped his wife, before also
killing himself. It’s likely this rage in him was not known or even detectable, but there are many
people with long histories of mental imbalance and documented domestic abuse who can still
arm themselves at will, You are in favor of this, Gate?

Skillet?  Is that all you got?

CSI Flathead:

Man enters with a golf club.

Start your stopwatch.

Man chases other man around beating him with a golf club:  how long does that take until the intended
man is dead?

Lady of the house has the same amount of time to do what?  Ignore the situation?, grab a skillet, call
the cops?

But we know one man is dead and a woman is beat up seriously….. how long does would this take
with a heavy ashtray or a bag of skittles fellow gun defenders?

BANG BANG BANG Game over.  Back hand the woman with the gun.  Get in car and drive home.

Once home…. the man gets a roller pin and starts beating himself.  How long will that take?

Bang Game Over….

Cops arrive.

The gun survived.

I love/own/respect guns but you guys have no argument for why responsible citizens should have
any.

IllogicalOne:  Responsible citizens need guns because irresponsible citizens have guns.  That,
my ironically named friend, is called logic.

IknowBS….  I have a gun because you do?  You are really logical so I need one, right?  Now I get it.
The gun has no choice.

It’s called the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights. Look it up. It’s not about ‘Needs’. We don’t
‘Need’ 100’s of Newspapers but the 1ST Amendment of the Bill of ‘Rights’ allows for freedom of
speech. If you allow for anyone to start chipping away at any of these ‘Rights’ then you open up the
possibility that over time all of them could be taken away.

Should mentally unstable persons be able to own firearms? Absolutely Not! But who’s going to
determine who’s mentally unstable? There’s no easy answer as to how you stop someone from
taking the life of an innocent person.  For those who missed the point: If it wasn’t a gun, an enraged
person would have used whatever instrument available to do the deed if they didn’t have a Gun!

In America today, there are in excess of 300,000,000 guns. What you have happen to them?
Disappear? Do you want everyone to turn them in? How about we all sign a contract stating we’ll
never use them against each other. Most don’t play golf or smoke. Your little script is a joke
but it’s not funny. Are your that out of touch? Time to face the reality of the situation.

You think I am out of touch?  I see down the rail very clearly.

I am not the one who suggested that ” we should also consider registering kitchen knives, roller pins,
skillets, heavy ashtrays and golf clubs!”, promoting the idea that the perp here could have just as
easily murdered and committed suicide with kitchen utensils.

It takes satire to show just how “stupid-funny” that premise is. That is solely what I am pointing out.

Gun owners are never going to hug each other and swear we would never shoot another human when
thats what guns were invented for in the first place.  We will never change that culture.

Best scenario is not to sin in the presence of a gun packer.

This guy killing himself did the taxpayers a BIG favor.  It cost approx. $40K a year to keep
someone in prison…more for death row.  Let’s look at numbers…if this guy did not kill himself
and he lived for another 40 years…you are talking about $1.6 Million dollars in today dollars.
This of course is insane.  You figure out the many people in prison like him and your talking
Billions of $$$$...why should they be pinned up like a cockroach???  I say you killed someone
goodbye dirtbag!

One more point:  If someone kills my wife or daughter, I’m sorry but I could not live myself
unless that person is wiped off the face of earth, and I don’t even own a gun.  We give creeps,
thugs, jerks, killers, way to many rights….and if anyone wants to pay big $$$$ to keep them
alive..I feel sorry for you…..

We had guns around us all of our lives but never would use one to settle a dispute. Why do people seem
to reach for a gun more so today rather than settle it one on one. What has changed?

What has changed?  Simply put - little by little more atrocious behavior is deemed acceptable.

Rumi, who is one of the greatest Persian poets, said that the truth was a mirror in the hands of
God. It fell, and broke into pieces. Everybody took a piece of it, and they looked at it and thought
they had the truth. Mohsen Makhmalbaf

Hate to tell you this…it may have slipped by you…but we haven’t had “freedom of speech” for
decades. Try going into a theatre, without a fire going on, and screaming FIRE!. The United
States has prohibited certain types of “free” speech. The prohibited certain types of weapons in
the 30s such as machine guns. I would love to have a machine gun. Don’t know what I would
use it for, but it would be cool to blow my friends’ minds at the range. Especially if they didn’t
know I had one. I would love to go into a crowded theatre some night and as a practical joke,
scream FIRE!, but I would land in jail facing charges if I did. The point is that not every freedom
within the Constitution has been proven over the years to be an ABSOLUTE freedom. The
Court has restricted certain types of speech and they have restricted certain types of weapons
in the past.

Whoever thought that the rights and freedoms in the Constitution carried no reasonable obligation
to behave responsibly?  Those rights were expected to be balanced by our moral and ethical
teachings, most of which we have since forgotten.  We should not have to wait for a court to decide
after the fact to know right from wrong.
