“So the next time someone rants about all the evils of wilderness, remember some of the overwhelming good that it provides.”
---Please define your concept of ‘good’ in this case.

Hey Roark--in English we start at the upper lefthand corner of an article to read it. Start there and then you will realize how dumb your question is. You got nothing on this one. And it shows...feel for ya bud…

I understand the article full well, thank you.

Don’t worry Roark...with increasing population, especially illegals, land in the future will become so valuable that many designated wilderness areas will be carved up for development.
The irony is, the ones who want to set aside all this wilderness are the exact same people who want unrestricted immigration...so it will be they (Democrats, i.e. leftists) who will be to blame for losing wilderness.

Wilderness is the least-cost per acre to manage. For those wanting less taxes, smaller government, this is the smartest option for areas that still qualify. If you like ("socialist") subsidies, well then, of course, more and more roads are desireable—but costly.

I am democrat and I cant stand illegals or for that matter legals who are from CA or FL. Last I checked it the GOP who is supporting John McCain---the ultimate supporter of illegals.
By illustr8r on 01-30-08
Not everyone in the GOP is supporting McCain. Unfortunately, the “independents” were able to sway the early primaries by flipping over to the GOP side to vote for the most liberal of the republicans. Most “i” are generally left-leaning and this way they get their candidate of choice-either way- (R) or (D). Conservatives are left out in the cold. Even in Florida that is supposed to be a closed primary had people registering at the last minute...*raise eyebrow* The Republicans are subject to diluted primary results that don’t represent a lot of the people in the party...and if McCain wins the nomination voting for him is like voting for Hillary or Obama...only McCain tries to lie about his voting record (Ted Kennedy? Amnesty? Voted against the Bush Tax Cuts? Campaign Finance Reform?!?) and the other 2 are front and left of center with theirs.
Oh, sorry this was a story about the wilderness...I’ll get off my soapbox now.
By yourwrong on 01-31-08
Actually, Florida has a closed primary, only registered Republicans voted on Tuesday...sorry…
Oh and this President who has a 90 percent approval with Repubs...last I checked he was pretty much in bed with illegals and big corporations who want the cheap labor....
you have been sold down a river…

Just some food for thought…

NREPA just got two more supporters in the House of Represenatives. One from Texas, one from Tennessee. Brings the total to 122 members from around the country who support protecting wilderness on our public lands.
The reason we still have any places that can be called wilderness is because we’ve still got a small amount of public land left in this country.
Otherwise we’d be visiting it as a simulation in Disneyland.
