Well….its a crock. TSA….needs some common sense for sure. Seeing that several TSA screeners were caught in California…..giving “free passes” to drug carrying people that
gave “money to the screeners” for passing checkpoints. And, the illegal drug carries only got
caught when a screener went to the wrong checkpoint & the drug carrier was caught by a alert
TSA screener….and the carrier WAS NOT A 4 YEAR OLD.
The TSA nees some simple guidelines and maybe copy the TSA counterparts in Israel Defense
Forces they use at their airports??? So, there would be some profiling…..so what?

Sure seems like the mother is promoting crisis in her child’s life. Quick, everyone panic! Thereare better way to handle this situation.

The behavior of these TSA agents was beastly. Shame on them for abusing a frightened four year old girl. TSA is clearly out of control again.

While I am generally opposed to the heavy-handed tactics of the TSA, some points are being ignored in this instance. First, the parents did not have control over the 4 year old.
Second, “granny” had tripped an alarm and was awaiting additional screening. Third, it seems
that “Mom” was not being helpful in calming the child.
That said, the TSA has a history of over-reacting, and of hiring people who are not necessarily
the best suited to the job. It would be perhaps better if the individual airlines were placed in
charge of security for THEIR aircraft and passengers. That way, problems would be handled
by the airlines and not some bureaucratic machine that has no stake in resolving problems
quickly and quietly.

To hotfishmt, I have long been a fan of the Israeli technique of security. And profiling the most likely individuals seems not only practical but efficient method of dealing with the problem. It
may inconvenience some passenger groups, but it will yield the best results. Common sense
solutions are often discarded to “protect rights”. What about the right of the rest of us to safe
and secure travel with a healthy regard for our liberty?

The way some of you defend TSA’s actions - let alone the TSA itself - are appalling, to say the least. To traumatize a 4-year old girl as a pretext for maintaining airport security is utterly contemptible.

Nothing is so dangerous to a society as the individual’s rights conflicting with the agenda of the state. When a state feels it must control the rights of the individual for its own sake, it cheapens and

If you travel frequently you may note a continued pattern of baby and grandmothers patting whilegiving 20 something males a pass. I know we must be politically correct but do we have to be
stupid? When was the last time a mom blew up her baby in a terrorist act? I for one am willing
to accept the risk of flying with these potential combatants. If in the future a gang of moms
with exploding babies develops we can always rethink our criteria.

and then there are the new and improved “body-bombs” hidden inside a terrorists body (ooh yucky). We’ll see how the TSA handles that one! (max exlax and wait one hour? outside the terminal?)

Yes, Bill, the TSA gang targets those who they are sure don’t constitute a threat because they are dumb cowards abusing their power.
However, given the attitude towards women in many parts of the world, I could see where a guy
might want to explode his daughter so she’s not a drag on his economic wellbeing.
They do set fire to women in India, and kill their female children in China, so maybe the theory of
exploding babies in the name of whoever your God may be is not beyond possibility.
