Perhaps Wyatt might have a better chance of employment by cutting his hair and looking professional, unless you are in a rock-band a grown man should not be wearing his hair that long.  Employers read hundreds of applications every day and if you are lucky enough to be selected for an interview, than you must prove to the potential employer that you mean business.

Memo to Nancy - it is 2009, not 1959.  Let me guess, you still wear your hair in a bun, right? Frankly, I could care less what my mechanic looks like, as long as he or she does the job.  I wish you luck Wyatt in your job search. Ignore Nancy and her uptight attitude.

Wyatt loks fine for a mechanic job.  Even other jobs.  I know 4 people on unemployment and none of them have bothered to look for a job or have turned down a couple that paid too little.  All 4 said they enjoyed having the summer off and being paid for it.

There always seem to be a few holdouts that still live in the 20th century - symtomatic of how backward some people in Montana really are.  Wyatt is better off not seeking employment with those kind of people, in any event.  I do wish him luck, and I hope he can find the kind of employment he is looking for, with someone who will objectively look at his skillset without chastising him for his ponytail.

@mooseberry - LOL, you always crack me up, dude smile

Re: Oh the back-lashes do not surprise me considering we live in a community of people who do not take pains to look half-way decent when leaving their homes. If you are serious about finding employment in ANY field, the employer has the choice to select any individual and they will be discreet in thier selections based on discrimination.  In my view, if someone is to lazy to care about how they look, they will not care how they do their jobs. Look nice while interviewing, when you land the position, discuss with your employer work place dress code policies. If they allow long-hair, jeans, etc..fine.

We have a few thousand people getting ready to loose their only income, and the discussion is about one’s attire… You have got be out of your minds…

The discussion should be, why is the Fed willing to dole out foreign aid at a moments notice with virtually no strings attached. Yet, American citizens must suffer the debate in Congress before they are given a helping hand…. Lets remember American employee’s pay into the unemployement fund, whilst foreign countries do not pay into any fund and some are not required to pay us back….

It’s all about responsibility…

The person hiring for their company is obligated to get the best employee for the position, often based on limited information.

It’s the potential employees’ obligation to himself and his family to present AS the best candidate for the position…appearance IS important.

No question in my mind:  Employment benefits should be extended.  It’s a cheap way to help avoid a negative dominoe effect throughout the economy.

Oh, and Foreign Aid very rarely comes with no strings attatched.

Government Unemployment is a gross violation of mans right to his own money. Now, because of someone’s misfortune, wether self inflicted or what have you, I must pay them money out of my pocket until they find other work? I can sympathize with some who may have fallen on hard times (SOME being they key word) but that does not give the government the right to mortgage my money and life. If an individual needs sustainence he can find it through private charity where the giving is done voluntarily and not at the point of a gun.

Roark,

I agree with you in regards to people getting money for nothing.——> welfare…...

Unemployment benefits are deducted from employee’s pay checks, for the purpose of helping them when they are laid off… Some people pay into the unemployment fund for years and they should get what back what they paid into the system…

IMO.. people should not have the money deducted, it should be their responsibility to save….

roark doesn’t seem to understand basic economic theories…....unemployement insurance is just that -  insurance against unemployment….....which the employee pays into for -  they aren’t receiveing ANYTHING they haven’t already paid into to!

Once again the truth and the rightwingnuts have never met -

or as hannity has said - if that’s the truth then I jsut can’t accept it -  the VERY definition of cognitive dissonance….

and when have we EVER heard roark complain about any other form of insurance?

Never - - if it’s from the corporate communists running this country….....

gov of, by and for the corporation…..

roark is a self-proclaimed fascist…although they put lipstick on that pig and say it’s the “free market” or the “invisible hand of market equalibrium”......or just another word for the corporate welfare system we have right now…...

and the end result is robin hood for the rich -  makes me miss the 600 a month welfare queens from the 80’s -  at least they spent the money locally -  unlike the corporate welfare queens who use the money to create another bubble where they can make money on the upside and the downside

and bankrupt everyone else in the meantime…....

that’s not an economic system - that’s extortion and slavery….

roark is a one-string banjo; a one-trick pony. Regardles of the issue his response is the same. And Woody, thanks for the Manatee quote. That very tidily sums up the far right’s brain power.

By the way said:

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems the government is throwing money at helping people eat during the recession, but not doing anything to end it.”
———————————————————————————-

Unemployment benefits do both.  They help people eat and, at a minimum, stabilize the cascading effects of a recession.

How long can it keep up?  Hopefully, not long but The talking heads say:  The recession IS over.  hehheh.

Those talking heads !
